Maybe you should tell us the research you have done first on the subject? What kinds of machines and links have you looked at already?

I don't think you plan on playing games since that isn't a lot. Some advice, make sure you aren't going to have it plugged in at home all the time, because you could use the same money for a really good custom built desktop. Other wise, Dell Minis look good, and so do EEE PCs... Those will save you a bit of pocket as well.

You can get cheap Alienware M5700 laptops now on ebay with Nvidia 6800 GPUs in them for about £300/$500 if you don't mind XP

Other ones to look out for on the edge of your price range (£450/$700) are Asus G1 (Nvidia 8600GT), Dell XPS 1710 (Nvidia 7900GS/GT), Acer Gemstone G (ATI 4570 - Nvidia 9600GT) used/referbished.

I recently picked up a refurbished Fujitsu Amilo 3553 with ATI 3470x2 cost me £300/$500 plays Battlefield 2 and 2142 smooth as silk at 800x600 in Vista

All gaming laptops will have to be plugged in to game, batteries won't last very long with the CPU and GPU going full pelt IMHO

DinoHunter (still no nVidia compo voucher!), CPU/GPU Benchmark, DarkFish Encryption DLL, War MMOG (WIP), 3D Model Viewer

As GatorHex I also have a Fujitsu Amilo. Mine is the 3670 (which as far as I am concerned can only be bought in a select few countries; amongst which USA is not one of them. Also unfortunate is the $2000 price (if the google calculator is to be trusted)).

As far as laptop quality, we have only used Fujitsu Siemens (which they were called before; now it's only Fujitsu). And in my humble opinion Fujitsu makes very good computers.

So I recommend you check out some Fujitsu laptops, I am sure they have something which will catch your eye.
