i realize you can import models with 3ds max and the entity creator thing and whatnot ( i messed around a little in X9) but can i/ how do i get a rigged and animated enemy to work in FPS creator x10? do X10 models follow the same animation set as the original FPSC models.... someone break it down for me please?

Yep if you did it in x9 you can do it in x10(Character models bones are the same.) just have to add the normal and speular maps to it..

Is it possible to import characters? Yes, it is...However, not too many people know how to do this in the X10 camp. But if you know how to do it in X9, then you shouldn´t have any trouble with X10. I´ve made a few character models and have animated them but I´ve been having trouble figuring out exactly how to import them (the characters I´ve made have custom skeletons and animations). If there´s anyone around here who knows how and can release a tutorial or something, it would be most appreciated, I too want to know how to do this

@ seth: yea i kinda did it in X9, i got the model to come in just fine without a skeleton (static mesh) as an object... I also got the FPSC generic skeleton animating in 3dsmax with my character model rigged on it properly... but then i ran into tons of trouble getting that in to FPS creator... sometimes the model was invisible, sometimes the model wouldnt animate, sometimes the mesh was torn apart and stretched and skewed...

bottom line i agree with Jingle Fett... i need a serious video tutorial or something OTHER THAN THE SUPER BASIC ONE on the FPSC site.

or if someone has skype or gmail chat with a webcam to seriously help me out with this. This roadblock its the only thing hindering my game creating process.

That´s one of my main roadblocks too, especially because some of the character´s I´ve made are actually pretty cool. The problem I´m having is the one where the model is invisible; the shadow and healthbar appear where the character would be but the rest is invisible...

I thing it would be a huge help if we could somehow get someone who´s made characters before (EAI, CoZ or whoever) to write a step by step tutorial (perhaps excluding the actual modeling, texturing and animating parts) on how to make characters from scratch. It´s the actual rigging and post modeling/texturing/animating etc where I´m stuck at; I already have almost everything else down to a science

Huh I'm lost people are still having problem with importing character models. Ive made a few of my own(except the skeleton used Milkshape and the fpsc bone for the animation.) and have got every last Character model(that I bought or got for free.) form the game creator store imported with no problem. I mean some times they show up invisible but I fixed that some how. So I think I'm shocked to hear that.. My own models I imported with FPS toolbox character program..

@Jingle Fett

I haven't got time now but will drop you a note to clear up the invisibility and bone issues.

Getting custom characters into X10 isn't so bad once you've done it a couple of times but I had all the same niggles initially.

BTW, thanks for the PM you sent me. Really helpful.

@Viktor415

Your best place to start is going through all the character tutorial threads on the forum. There are some videos around that will get you most of the way.

@ jingle fett: yea i know how you feel, i love modeling and texturing characters and i have some kickass ones and a whole slew of them on the way... the game im (trying to)create is driven by my characters and story...without them the rest of the game is useless so if i cant figure out how to integrate them into FPS creator then i need to abandon ship and create a different kind of game with them.

@ Nomad Soul: thanks alot i will check them out, is there any ones that are more particularly helpful that you know of and would recommend?
