I had a idea to make DS-esque models just for the heck of it, so during my boredom I made this... A low-poly, ds quality mop.

Its Polycount is 54.
And its texture size 128x28.
So now.. IMAGES!

Feel free to post your DS-esque models.

I *think* that the DS requires textures resolutions to be powers of 2. So instead of 128 x 28 it should be 128 x 16 or 128 x 32.

Anyways looks okay. I've always admired the DS's graphics; something about the simplistic, pixelated and saturated look of many of the games has always appealed to me.

Example (Dragon Quest V):

Creating a quality game character with 8000 polys and a 2048x2048 texture isn't nearly as impressive IMO as creating a gorgeous game scene with under 2000 polys and 512kb of texture memory.

i like orange

Yeah, I love the way it looks aswell. So simplistic but so much can be done with it.

I agree, there's a certain charm to the pixellated textures and low-poly scenery. Reminds me of the Playstation-age, fond memories.
Sure, the N64 had texture filtering and all that high tech stuff, but I think low resolution textures look better pixellated than heavily filtered.

Edit: As for the model, it looks nice. I like the style, you should make a whole mocked-up scene in that style.

Would look cool in Animal Crossing, add in a bucket and your set. That's one game that just shows how capable the DS' graphics are, it just doesn't need any higher resolution. I liked making my own innapropriate t-shirts for the little buggers.

Edit: Guitar Much?
210 Polies.

You seem pretty good at making low-poly, low-resolution models, crap looking models. Except in this thread, that's a compliment. Good job!

An amp to go with my guitar...

P.S. They are some cool models for such low poly. I have a problem with low-poly myself Been trying to work on this...

Yeah, it really is just to do with thinking, remember that when doing low-poly stuff like this most of the details will be in the texture, so whats on the texture shouldn't be on the model.
And a amp. Hmm.. Sounds fun.

Looks cool. Looks like a... Fender? Thats how I play mine, anyways. Les Paul through a Fender reverb!

What do you use to render/display these with pixelated textures?

Um Blender.
You have to hit F10 and then find OSA and deselect it. And it won't blur the textures.
Brand new microphone.. Perhaps a drum kit next.

Looking good, get enough of these and you be able to play a DS in your own 3D world.

You can, it's easier than working with some operating systems. Look up DevKitPro. You have to work in C not C++ for less resource use but there's a full GL state machine in hardware.
