Hm. I just got done restarting my computer, and for some reason, Gimp will not save or load any other file format except .xcf... Do you know why this is happening?

Do you have "all images" selected on the list/combo-box in the lower-right of the open/save dialogs, and are you adding ".png", ".bmp", etc. to the end of your filename when saving?

Just covering the basics.

I know how to select them, but xcf is the ONLY one I can pick...

That is what shows up when I hit save or load.

What happens if you type "untitled.bmp" in the top box, i.e. change the file type that way?

It says Gimp does not understand that extension and tells me to pick one from the bottom. Typing in '.png' and '.dds' are habits of mine.

Ok then, hmmm, not sure what the problem could be entirely, maybe the plugins for the file export/imports have gone missing. You could try reinstalling; even if it is probably a pain to do so.

Reinstalling did not help.

RESOLVED

It was a COMODO Firewall block, it set Gimp to not allow running .exe files, which is how it saves and loads non-xcf images.
