I don't use blender, but I found:

http://www.delta3d.org/filemgmt_data/files/7_Intro%20Blender%20Mesh%20Modeling-Simple%20Booleans.pdf

This pdf file explains it pretty thoroughly. Hope it helps!

EDIT : [ herf] didn't work.

Oops... yeah, I have "href" in the code, I just misspeled it there.

Oh, the forum doesn't like %20 (spaces) either unfortunately.

The only reason that link failed is because he put a space in [href].

I only put a space in the "[ href]" to show what I had typed. I actually typed http://google.com

I tried editing it, but i guess the forum doesn't like " "s or "%20"s.

Make a cylinder, and then select the object you want to make a hole in. Go to the modifiers tab, select boolean, then select subtract. Type in the name of the object you want to subtract from, and then hit apply.

Hold shift and the middle mouse button and drag the mouse around.

Don't scroll it, hold it down and drag the mouse .

Select the verts and press F.

Any more ?

Are you sure?

Shift + MMB = Pan view.
Shift + Scroll MMB = Pan view vertically.
Ctrl + MMB = Zoom in.
Ctrl + Scroll MMB = Pan view horizontally.

And AFAIK there's no way to change any of this in the View & Controls, so you're probably doing something wrong.

Have you checked that your middle mouse button or wheel is set to do this? check mouse controls.
