I only play Battlefield on lan these days, against bots with my brothers. Actually BF1942 is a little better IMO, for playing 'kinda' co-op mode, seems just a little bit sneakier if you know what I mean. That's probably because you can get ammo etc in a 2D range, so you can hide quite easily and snipe. I just get owned online, for some reason I prefer having tons of kills with mid-difficulty bots.

I only really play BF2 and 2142 online, but don't even have them installed right now.

Yeah, I loved battlefield 1942, but when I got my new Gaming Rig it suddenly stopped working and refused to install on any of my PCs

Battlefield 2 has some bizarre issues of its own in that it completely refuses to let me stay in any server at all. I can usually join, but get about 3 frapes per second before being kicked from the server for too high of a ping, even though I can run the game at the highest FPS with the highest settings + AA, and Crysis works beautifully for WAN multiplayer, despite being a good 10x more resource-intensive 0.o.

I got it, hardly played it, kept on crashing when I made/entered a match.

No one knows just what has become of her, Shattered, dull, desperate, oh so innocent and delicate. But too damn obdurate, And obstinate to let go!
