ive never seen how you create a texture for an object, when I look at a texture image it just looks like a random smattering of images, how do I create a texture for an object and what programs should I use?

ummmm by using a paint program such as Gimp2 , texture maker, photoshop , paint.net ect.....

The scattering of images is probably due to how the user UV mapped his or her model. just look up UV mapping, tons of info on it. a couple good uv mappers are.... Ultimate unwrap, Truespace and most 3d programs have somewhat of a uv mapper within them.

if you have problems with painting on a 2D image and getting your model to look right. you can always load a .obj file in a program such as Blacksmith 3D which allows you to paint directly on the model itself, course you would need to UV map it first...

anyway hope that helps some..

tatts I think you should add blacksmith 3D to Great Graphic Resource post as I just search it and that one wasn't on the list yet.

You ask a large question my friend. My advice would be to google it, watch a few video's on it, maybe search around the forums a bit, and then ask a more specific question.
