Hey guys, got a question for you, i made a texture 2048x2048, and it looks great in Ps, but when i load it into Max to render, i can see a significant Quality drop, i have tried .Bmp,.TGA,.DDS.

So i was wondering, is there any other ways to keep vital detail when saving as an image?

Thanks

Go to rendering, then select the renderer tab, look for the drop-down menu where it says area and put it onto catmull-rom, then go to the other one, select "Enable global supersamplers" and then change it from max2.5 star to Hammerslay.

Thats meant to happen for performance options, if your view-port was 100% perfect it would lag like hell since it'll be rendering so many frames in real-time to get a excellent and amazing results.

The view-port is there for designing your work, the renderer is there to perfect its final product for show.

But you can improve the view-port but it could have a bad result on your GPU/CPU causing it to go over your usual usage limit(lets say over the limit that CS:S would create).

You could use a real-time shader; for example.

However if you just want to improve your textures in the view-port, then go to Customize > Preferences > Viewport> Configure driver, then set it to 1024, 512, and also Linear on the last two.

This can improve the texture and howl view in the view-port, and it really doesn't take much processing power then before.

There must be something wrong then, because the render doesn't look half as good.

You either expect too much,
You're graphics card might be bad,
Or you're rendering settings are all wrong.

Render settings?

Ill just find one of my presets,..

In DL

Its a mental ray setup, ive played around with all the settings to get this. It has been balanced for high quality and speed. Renders in 4sec flat on a 30k poly model.

Tell me what you think of it, and share you own if you have any, I have a precious render setting, but it takes 1hour to render with a 30k model lol. The results are amazing.
