Quote: "This high volume board is for all geek / tech culture related threads not specific to game making. If it's off-topic but adheres to our AUP, it goes in here."

AUP rules:
Quote: "Do not upload, post, transmit or otherwise make available any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy (up to, but not excluding any address, email, phone number, or any other contact information without the written consent of the owner of such information), hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable"

Well, that pretty much sums it up. According to your rules, I did nothing wrong. Making a joke topic about myself is perfectly acceptable. I think I deserve a little more credit for my contributions to the community.

WINNER list:
Brick Break, Latch, Lee Bamber, TDK, TheComet
Thanks for the help!

The entire list of AUP rules can be found here:

I believe your previous post would qualify as 'spam', furthermore, we're trying to cultivate a culture where people post useful and interesting threads to each other. Your post really didn't offer anything to the community, and since we're having a crackdown on these useless posts, it was locked.

You've already had 6 locked threads. You've even admitted to "not being yourself" lately, but creating pointless "look at me" threads isn't making the mods jobs any easier.

I didn't ban you, but I'm sick of seeing you post threads that just end up locked.

Jeku, you're always the one who locks the threads. I understand where you guys are coming from, but what's this "crackdown" Dave J mentioned? I thought the Geek Culture board was for social topics. I don't flame or troll, I just want to feel better about myself. If you knew where I was coming from, you would understand.

Well Brick Break, something you might want to consider in order to make yourself feel better is to talk to people you actually know, and not post "look at me" threads to people you don't know. I understand that you may be going through a difficult time, but trust me; one of the only ways to make yourself feel better is to talk to someone you trust in person. Don't make joke threads. Okie dokie?

Sorry if that sounds rather hard and/or harsh. I don't mean for this message to sound like that.

Yes, you have contributed many off-topic unnecessary childish posts to this forum. I think you simply are just not mature enough to communicate with other people over the internet without it turning into b/s. And to answer your "Bye guys" post.. bye, i wont miss you.

Brick Break, what happened to your focus on code? Get out of Geek Culture and back into learning Darkbasic.

Honestly, a good suggestion. There, they will respond to him appropriately (and by "appropriately", I mean "not-so-appropriately" ).

Lets take a fresh perspective on this
six locks is a lot of posts to get locked in such a short period of time. that said, Looks like to me your a little behind shedule on your next killer project so hurry up and get back to work already because time isn't something you get back and you've already wasted enough of that.

Brick Break, you are misunderstanding this board. The reason 'geek culture' is called 'geek culture' is because the admin, Rich Davey, realised that 'general chat' was getting just too general. This is a forum that doesn't like useless or pointless threads and likes to keep this place clean and it works mostly on that basis and it works in making a strong online community I think.

Though the Posting Competition I think was an ingenious idea at minimalising useless posts, because it's a thread dedicated too exactly that and keeps it clean, so everybody's happy. If you want to make useless or spam posts, that's where you go.

Once in a while we get some raging nutter who wants to make useless posts/threads and ends up throwing a hissy fit because they're not getting their own way as they expect this place to be like 4Chan or one of the money other communities out there with diarrhea from the keyboard. I think if people made pointless threads then 'geek culture' wouldn't be worth posting in. What happens is that they either leave in a rage, get banned or calm down and contribute as part of the forums. That begs the question, which one do you want to be?

Why Jeku has been always the bad guy recently?
I thought it was Seppuku who was planning world domination.

I think Jeku is the most active mod in Geek Culture so he seems to get most of the stick, but he takes it like a man. It's because of him that Canada is the last country on my checklist of 'places to dominate'.

Brick is having a break. If he feel like it he can come back in a month. He got banned because noob slapping him only worked while he was noob slapped, and to be honest I don't think we should play games with newbies who act like that, if they don't bounce back after a noob slap with a better attitude then a ban is the only way.

So word to the unwise - if you get noob-slapped, take some time to start a project or do some work, and come back with a more centered attitude, we are here to try and help, not babysit, not lock mind-numbing spam posts. A noob-slap is just that, a stingy little slap on the chops, some people come back determined to improve their reputation afterwords, some can't accept they were wrong in the first place and 'spit the dummy', so to speak.

It's probably my fault that Jeku was/is getting so much stick from BB though, but I'm sure he can look after himself - why do they always pick a fight with the big dog!.

Threads are only useless or pointless if they are exactly that but what is useless to one ,may prove interesting to another.
