is there any way in lender to select some faces and create a new object from them, cutting them from the old one in the process?

Select the faces and duplicate them, then press p I believe. This will make a new object from the selected faces. You would then have to delete the faces from the original object.

no need to duplicate, just select and hit p it will separate the faces to a new object, removing them from the original
