FPSC Classic Product Chat / Characters Cause Game to Run VERY Slowly!!!

It's not really a bug, and I'm not giving any suggestions... So here's the issue:

Whenever my game has more then two character entities in it, it begins to run unbearably slowly. Without any Character AI's, I can reload a pistol on a matter of seconds, when I have two or three, reloading can take almost a minute. it's crazy, I find it funny that someone would make a game design program that costs money, where you cant have any enemies without your game running slow! I've tried this on multiple computers, fast and slow, all of them bug up when more then three character entities are in a level at once! It's frustrating!

So, what I'm asking is, what can I do so that my game can handle more then a few characters at once? Is there any tweaking available. I already tried "Texture Reduction" in character properties. What else can I do to make the game run faster while character entities are in the game?

Thanks in advance!

BingoGuy, whats up.
Seeing as this is your first post. I'm guessing you have recently stepped into fpsc and created a level expecting to see good results.
Tgc or the engine is not really at error for the problem you are having, alot is to do with specs, media and the end user.
Yes fpsc can be used straight from the box, however dont expect to make large levels unless you have spent some time learning how the engine works and build your experience with the engine.

I can see you have mentioned "texture reduction" what other topics have you researched about your problem before making the above post?

Please post your specs on any question related to the above topic.

Also if using XP, single core. Try researching mods such as PBUM for increased frame rates to help support resource drain.

At BlazorX we worked on AI for 2 years and use a inhouse modification 2.0, this is not public though.

Does that mean mods dont work with a double core? Because I'm getting a new computer soon... Which has 4 gigabytes of the ram or whatever it is, and then it has double core processor thingy. Currently I have a 2 gb ram, and sinlge core...
And I don't have the characters slowing the game thing, when I use Apple Juice mod, which is free. And I think (I might be wrong) it has all features of PBUM and more, when it's 1.00 version of it? (like I said, I might be wrong and probably am) But still.
Without Apple Juice, I had one character in my level. My fps was like 2-6. With Apple Juice, 3 characters, fps is like 20-40.
Hooray for Apple Juice! xD

With HorrorMod you can place 20 characters without lag,I suggest you buy it if you want tons of enemies in your levels.

Or like me, make your own engine in C++ and take advantage of the Map Editor. You can get more then 5000 fps with it.

That's scary... How to make an engine? Or can a free FPS engine be used? Or something?
Or... how can a FPSC game be "converted" to another engine? And how's the protection or something then?

@SekoIdiootti: Yeah, well if you use C++/ DAKRGDK. You can make your own engine, to load up what fpsc map editor makes. That is pretty simple. You can pull ALOT MORE out of your own engine in C++, then in DarkBasicPro. Just for the reason that C++ is alot faster, and gives more possibilities. But that is if you know how to use it.

I am sure great modders like ply s4real hockeykid applslicer knrxb rmapage, can make a mod that will be very good. But well cureently i am making a engine that just does what i just said. Loading up the level what fpsc map editor makes. I will add (and maybe convert some code, of the darkbasic pro source code) to DarkGDK).

I must say it is a hell alot of work, to get the dynamic things in it, and therefore i didnt start with that YET.

It might be an idea to try and convert over the FPSC Source to DarkGDK some day.

That's not exactly a valid reason for me to add people. I hate randomly adding people for the sake of adding people

So you're saying, there's somewhat of GPU instancing?

Horror Mod has a Dual Timer System which helps but I've also added 4 different speed updates which only process the characters that are required at the time etc..
