It's a shame, I only knew little of him, yet his music was great. Anyone else knew him or am I the only one paying tribute? Long live Les ;(. Now I want to learn guitar...

Les Paul was a legend, I've always loved his line of guitars, and his own personal compositions and unique playing style were pretty good too.

@David R - What do you expect, 90% of this forum is a bunch of kids.

For those who don't know who he is;

If you have ever seen a guitar like this (which I'm sure you have):

He was the inventor of those, which are simply known as 'Les Paul' guitars. He was a genius.

Long live.

Apparently he kept playing through his 90's. Every Monday night or something he'd play at a bar I think.

PoK's right, he literally never stopped after his retirement (come to think of it, I don't even think he retired lol ). I primarily heard this form a friend of mine addicted to Seekers and Slash, then he texted me a while ago to tell me about this. Still, just like any other celebrity loss, it's a shame to see legend go.

To a passing legend, your legacy will live on through the music you created...

I meant no disrespect. I was just saying more often than not, I have no idea who the people are that have died in these type of threads.

RIP, whoever he is

Actually, CoughMist, do you know where the Goldtop came from?

Originally, all Les Pauls were to be given a traditional translucent varnish but some came off the production lines with ugly grains and so some bright marketer had the idea of painting them gold to hide the grain and charging extra!

At least, that's what the guy at Arcade music told me.

I did not know that! Pretty sneaky... Although I love my goldtop, I do love me some wood grain on a guitar as well. I've got an ESP and a Strat with wood grain finishes.

The actual guitar in the pic is not mine, but I have one identical. Mine has a few minor bruises and scratches, but nothing too serious.

How could people not know the name? The Gibson Les Paul is only the most famous guitar ever. Although, I was never much of a Gibson fan, the les paul sounds sweet.
