Did you try to install the patch over a beta version of upgrade 5?

If so, thats why it won't work, you have to upgrade from 4.1 to 5.0 final.

the updater does not work. i don't know how most people get it to work, but IT DOES NOT WORK FOR ME and this is the first time i've seen ANYONE ELSE have this problem too.

it has NOTHING to do with what is currently installed and it DOES NOT MATTER where DBP is installed. no matter if it's in the default directory, custom directory, wherever. and it also doesn't matter where you put the updater; it NEVER WORKS.

sadly the only way i can update DBP is to manually extract all the files from the self-extractor with winzip (or whatever program you use to unzip stuff) and put the files in the right place.

i'd REALLY like to know how you guys get the updaters to work. because since P3, they have never worked. i liked the old way where it unpacked to the DBP/updater directory, you ran the updater, and it'd work.

stop looking at me!

DrakeX they are probably relying on the Windows® Installer being up to date and exactly what Microsoft® specifies. Your installer probably differs in some (otherwise insignificant yet) critically important way.

It might be because you have reinstalled windows after installing DBP. Then there will be no registry entries telling where to look for DBP. The installer will then set the path to the default location (wich does not exist).

Try reinstalling DBP and try again (remember to make a backup of the Projects folder).

Another issue that may also fix alot of other problems is to install the latest service pack for your operating system, i.e. XP, Service pack 1, W2K, Service Pack 4. And obviously Win98, 98SE, 98ME service packs. Just updating drivers and DX will not necessarily resolve the problem.
