Just so i know am not getting rusty, i set myself modeling chalenges were i spend 1 hour on modeling something i find intresting. This time it was Mod, a recent sketch of mine. I spent just under 1 hour on him and then 10 min ''trying'' to correct the smoothing groups, after i thought i spent too long on such a annoying issue, then realising a diffuse map would do the job, then giving up, left it.

On the otherside, i had a stupidity streak recently, so this is also a apology.

Here he is anyway.

884 quads
888 polies

And here is is his orginal sketch, i normally draw new characters/creatures like this untill i finish the design then i put them in a scene.

The Download for him is included below, Thiers a .max // .obj // .3ds // .x

I havnt uvmapped him, though i would think it would be easy since he has a clean mesh. I never reduced the polycount from the original so thiers are a few that could be shaved off.

Anyway,

Oh and dont get angry i dont respond quickly or a post randomly appearing, i picked up a noob slap for stupidity so it may take a little longer for responses.

Looks nice, but I would advise removing the massive n-gon behind his back leg.

You have some weird smoothing group errors. Go into edit poly mode, go into faces mode, Ctrl+A to select all, then go down to the smoothing groups tab, clear all and then autosmooth. Autosmooth isn't a cure all by any means, but on your mesh, it looks like it would work well. Although any faces that don't look right after that, just put on a different smoothing group that's not being used.

Sorry i forgot about this thread -_= lol

I was playing with the smoothing group errors some more the other day, I usually autosmooth groups but it came out weirder than that lol.

And a Ngon? aw crap i didnt notice that lol. I used symmetry for it so it must have happened then. Ill fix that too.

Looks good, it looks like a pokemon. Although i'd probably add just a little more geometry to it to try and get rid of the hard edges. Other than that I like it
