Does it come with decent tutorials? I remember the tutorials in the original DB, I used it over at my friend's place. They taught nothing. it was basicly. "We're going to teach you how to make a man that runs! Look at this code. Thats how you do it! good luck!"

to which I responded in my own mind. "I thought it was going to teach us how to do that. I dunno what any of this means."

I would have bought it, but couldn't find any dependable resources from which to learn from. Does Pro have dependable resources from which I can actually learn from?

basicly what I' asking is. Is pro worth the money? Or should I stick with qbasic?

Dbpro has some tutorials that come with it and there is more online. There is going to be even more as soon as Rich releases the user ones that have been written.

The tutorials that Rich has made are very good to learn from..
check them out for yourself and remember there are tons more coming because TGC actually paid for good tutorials to be written.

STOP USING QBASIC!!!!!!!STOP USING QBASIC!!!!!STOP USING QBASIC!!!!!

That is the worst language ever! It was written and abandoned by the evil empire and it's:

slow
ustabile
Low res
has limited memory
lack of syntax
no support for dlls

Download the demo of Pro and you'll see the difference... Nice things like being able to code in a windowed environment instead of full screen are really what make Pro better.

omg! people still use that? lol, blimey. what do you make with it? LOL.

anyway, the tutorials that come with dbc are crap. i havent taken a full look at them, but from what i did look at, the tutorials with dbp are even worse.

there are, however, tutorials out there which people have made. one to note is a book (i know its sold on amazon), which i have heard is supposed to be very good for beginners (i think it was called beginners guide to programming in darkbasic, something like that). anyway, i havent heard a bad thing about that book.

it not! try uesing Smalltalk

it`s;
slow (link a brink)
un-debug able (all errors return names of class`s not line numbers)
Dum syntax
too object oriented (even numbers have number have to be class`s )

Alpha17X:yes it worth the money.there a big book of how to make game in DB now.

Thats. good. man. so dppro still comes with worthless tutorials? why are they wasting the disc space with that stuff? oh well.

I use q-basic to make stupid text based games mostly. I made a side scroller spaceship game with it once to. but it consumes all the stack space after a certain amount of time and freezes the comp great stuff.

the tutorials are not worthless, not veay good but not uesless. the face is there is no super tutorial/book that will tell you how to make games, you just to try things out and poke them to see how thay work.

there was even a good tutorial for DB but most were to stupid to find it.

I mean the 25 part tutorial of the outside shooter that thought nearly everything that was needed.

a tutorial for DB/DBP hasn't to cover programming, just the language specific things ... for programming there are out a large amount of tutorials so there is none needed for DBP itself I think *why to reinvent the wheel if it exist 2000 times?*

DBP comes with good tutorials but the ones that rich has created are better. Both help you with aspects of building things in a game and there is more to come.
