Here is my first go ever at making something in Blender. I put this together in 1-2 hours. Its not something I intend on improving(too many mistakes on the mesh that I don't lnow how to fix) I just wanted to get something modelled so I can start getting some experience. The model is just a G3C6 cardboard cutout. Check it out and apart from the mesh problems what do you guys think for my first model?

Thanks guys! Especially thank you to Gamer X's simple Blender tutorials that got me started on this.

EDIT: Polycount is 3474

It's nice for a first model. Keep at it and you'll get the hang of it.

start chamfering the sides to get rid of the cardboard cutout-ness.

Its a quick fix, but makes the difference. keep at it, youll get better with time.

Thanks for the comments!

@lazerus I think the equivelant to the chamfer in blender is the bevel tool. Thanks for the tip though.

By the way everyone is there a way to merge two edges together into one face?

I would recommend not using the bevel tool later. chamfering the model manually is a lot better in terms of control of the shape of the model.

When in edit mod, select the two edges and press F to make a face and to add in missing edges.

See I am here checking on your work . Its not to bad for your first model.

Thanks Gamer X!

@Nackidno How exactly would I chamfer? Because I googled it and all I got was people telling other people to use the bevel when they asked how to chamfer in Blender.

Manually extrude the faces you want to chamfer. I can easily discribe it using a simple cube.

You then extrude the part you want to chamfer.

Then you scale it down and position it the way you see fit.

It's quite easy but it's time consuming on more complex models. This is my way of doing it thouh, I believe it's a matter of taste.

Thanks nackidno!

Alright I've made another very simple model. This one's a keg or barrel of sorts on a stand. Basically all it is..is primitives.

Polycount: 374

C&C welcome as I may try and get this into FPSC.(I'd have to learn Uv mapping first though )

Sorry about the double post but is there any way to draw edges or to create vertexes and link them with an edge? (I know you can create vertexes) Thanks guys.

Select two vertexes and press F, the same way you link two edges into one face.

I agree, up to nearly 5k polys for a cut out, that's very much I have to say.

May I see a wireframe?

Hmm seems like I overused extrude and didn't use my polies too wisely... Sorry forgot about a wireframe. Here: (attatched)

You should be able to remove some of those lines on the flat planes, as it shouldn't effect it.
