Personaly i like 3D World Studios for map creation there is now a port for Dark GDK someone has built. I have never used Truespace but i have heard good things about it. All i can say is try it out if you dont like it there is a demo download for 3D World Studios at the link below

There is Mapscape too, which is almost identical to 3D World Studio, and it's free.

I'm not sure, maybe you can try it out and see if it works?

Models from Mapscape should work, in fact any 3d programs models should work as long as your exporting to the right formats...exp.. directX (.x), darkbasic object (.dbo)

either one of those extension should work with dark GDK, Which is what mapscape exports to. (Also mapscape was writen with darkbasic pro)

Also, Yes truespace can infact be used to create levels as well. It has lots of tools and is very capible of doing much more than what mapscape or any world builder can do.
