Several years ago, I noticed that many domains I looked up that were initially available were suddenly unavailable just days later when I finally decided to buy it. People thought I was crazy and just confused which ones were actually available. Then a year later an article came out describing what exactly was going on; and that I wasn't crazy.

ICANN has increased fees and a limit on the grace period for refunded domains with the register to help prevent this from happening.

Phaelax, I could have confirmed that Best to use places like moniker or domainsite or e-nom. From those three, I've never had issues with domains being taken on me.
