So i've been looking to play some Prey on line but there doesn't seem to be ANY servers at all for this game. Anyone play this game anymore on line? I would think it be pretty popular, guess not...

Prey? - that game is ancient!

Really if you want a game that has a long lasting multiplayer community you have to go for the well know FPS games, like Battlefield MC and CoD4.

I suggest getting BF1943 for XBL, it's great fun and a very rewarding game. Just don't leave it 3 years next time. It can be a little depressing when you want to play an online game, find an online game, and then realize that your the only person on earth who actually wants to play it!. I guess that if you like old fashioned multiplayer games, maybe Doom and stuff like that - well you really need 3 friends who like, and own those games too, it's pointless to hope that another 3 people want to play doom. That's the way it way and the way it should be IMO, so much fun to play these games with people you know - I think playing online games would be much more fun if it was more like clan tournaments but without the rigmarole. I usually play BF1943 with 2 brothers and a friend - I can start a squad match with them, but then there's no guarantee that we'll all be on the same team when we start - just seems pointless if you ask me - especially as you can't choose which team to join.

I remember playing Prey when it first arrived, but to be honest I got it around the same time as I got BF:MC, so Prey didn't get a look it - it was a pretty dull affair considering the possibilities. It's a shame, because as the older games get cheaper and cheaper, you'd think that they might get, or retain some players - when you can buy 3 copies of something for £15 and it has multiplayer, well I'm interested - but nobody else tends to be .

It just seems like most most multi-player games fail yet, Team Fortress classic, Counter Strike, and COD4 have people always playing on them. Seems like Valve games are the most popular ones when it comes to multiplayer

@Lover of games - Please don't double post. Thanks!

----------------------------

I think Prey suffered from "every FPS needs multiplayer so we'll slap one on". The multiplayer was nothing special at all if I remember correct. Myself I will always look forward to the single player campaign primarily, and Prey's was actually fairly good. It has the prize of being the very first game to make me a little woozy.

Prey was great, I didn't play much of the multi-player though, as it wasn't anything special. It was one of those early current generation games that was really well made, it's definitely a classic, but very few still play it.

I remember having the demo before buying it and playing it through again and again because it seemed so good. The game was quite emotional too.

I think the sad thing with multi-player games is that it has to be popular at the time, otherwise you'll find it difficult. Though, for example, The Summoner I found even after a few years of existence, there was still a couple of groups of people who were playing, it worked to my advantage because I got a load of neat items they all had spare. Though the multi-player on that wasn't special either, but fun.

I'm looking forward to hearing of the sequel that was so blatantly hinted in the ending. There's the odd bit of news hear and there about Prey 2, but the first was a 3D Realms project, so we might hear hits and misses, though it would seem a different company is working on Prey 2 instead, though some of the same old 3D Realms folk are in the team:

Prey was a fun game! I loved the gravity effects, the portals, and the Giant(tiny) planetoid you could run around on! Fun stuff. I did not play multi-player on it that much, either, but i concur with the single player goodness!

There's something in this room that makes you can't speak well.

I find it funny how Doom3 still has people playing it, as does quake 4, FEAR, and a bunch of other old games.

Ah but you are wrong! That's exactly what you meant to sound like, and I am very offended. Almost to the point of tears and bloodshed. I request someone slap you so that I may feel better about myself.

There there, I can handle it. But a tip for next time, you could have explained it away by adding something in your reply like: "I meant...uhm online play! Yeah, that's it. Online play! I can't believe they still play those games online". I bet you could have gotten away with that.
