I heard about this. Hopefully, it turns out well. Apparently, Shadow of the Colossus is being made into a move, also! Unfortunately, it is being made by the guy that made the Street Fighter:Legend of Chun-Li move, though. :/

I actually think, with the right direction and budget, a bioshock movie could be really, really good.

Apparently, Bioshock, Gears of War, God Of War, Uncharted, Half Life, and other assorted big name games are being made into movies, at least, that's what's been talked about on different gaming websites...

There are very few movies that I can recall liking that were originally video games. Sometimes going from movie to video game is fun because your being your favorite character and it's interactive. But video game movies are usually low budget messes. I thought the Silent Hill movie was good, as well as the RE movies, even though they had that cheesy feel to them. At least their were zombies

I agree with Sid--Bioshock is one of the few games that I could see being developed into a good movie. I'm looking forward to this.

It practically already is a movie really. It's that fluid of a gameplay experience for me. You have great cut scenes, good missions that don't even feel like missions to the player, a good story, good narrative and cool characters. I'm officially excited for this movie now

no no no no NO!
EVERY time "good ol'" hollywood makes a game-based-moive, it's HORRORBLE!!
EVERY TIME! what makes you think THIS will be any better?
but I digress: the only way I can see how this might work is if P.Jackson derected it, what with his contract with weta workshop(I think they have one anyway).

Dont worry, itll end up in the Halo movie pile...

It would be nice nether the less to see a film of bioshock meeting up to the standards of Avatar, in New age 3D. (Its going to be £6 for the ticket and £8 for the glasses, i rekon itll be worth it.)

MGS Movie Cast (possibly)

looks like it is based off the first MGS game on the Playstation.

Bioshock Movie would be interesting to watch as well as any video game based movies as long as they have the right people to direct it.

Let's hope this movie is done right. I've heard too many horror stories about the studio execs sticking their fingers into the movie making process even though they've had no experience with the source material.

In the beginning there was nothing. There'll be nothing in the end...

To be honest, I don't think this is Peter Jackson's type of movie. I could be wrong though.

Agreed Sid, I thought the movie of Silent Hill was very watchable, atmospheric and followed the storyline pretty damn well compared to the Ewe Balls efforts like Far Cry.

But I don't know, I usually would assume that it will suck, but Wentworth Miller is rumored to be playing the lead, so I'm thinking it might be pretty good if that's the sort of thing they are going for. Prison Break was great, dragged out too long due to it's popularity but that first series is the best TV I've seen since the first 3 seasons of Lost. Wentworth is probably in demand right now, probably has a choice of movies to star in, so it's a good sign that he's on board.

It could be a really creepy Poseidon Adventure with little girls stabbing people with oversize syringes. We'll probably see half the pirate cast from 'Caribbean though, playing the bad guys.

Hmmm. For a start I don't think Jackson is the man to direct! I mean come on, Bio-shock is a Sci-Fi epic! Sure it's under the sea, but its science fiction. Lets get Ridley Scott on it, or james cameron, or even Luc Besson! That would be really nice. Needs a direct who is slightly quirky.

But I don't know. I think it'll suck. I mean, Max Payne. Probably one of the best written storys in a game, period. Yet somehow, in the movie they manage to mess it up. All they had to do was a carbon copy of the story from the first game, keeping the noir vibe, but they blew it. And that's why I don't think bioshock will succeed!

Just read Van B's post....WENTWORTH? Whhhhaaaaattt?! He's not right for the role. It should be like, Tim Roth, or Bale, or someone who actually has some degree of talent. No doubt Vin Diesel or Mark Wharlglebargleburg will step up.

None of those people would take the role, have you seen any recent tie-ins?

I've seen them all, and they rarely have anyone recognizable. They'd probably sell their own granny to get Wentworth Miller as the lead, it's either him or someone nobody has ever heard of. The main thing with that though is it means they must be spending some money on it - they could just flood a 50's diner and call it Bioshock, or they could have a budget to play with, hence the 'in-demand' actor being touted as the lead.

If Christian Bale, or Vin Diesel take the role, I will eat my own head - there's no way they would do a movie tie-in, not Mr.Batman, and not someone with a shedload of his own IP. Biohazard is too similar to the Riddick games, there's no way Vin would do Biohazard. Seriously, look up Far Cry and HitMan. The only other well known actor I think could be offered it is Sean Bean, unfortunately - he was in Silent Hill, then a movie that was stupidly similar, straight to DVD - his tiring career is just right for a role like this.

LOL, I didn't say they would get those people, I said that if it was to be any good, that's the kind of calibre they would need. Obviously that's not what we're going to get.

I don't know why game directors don't get more involved in the movie tie-ins. I mean Rockstar made ''Football Factories'', and in terms of most movies it's mindless drivel, but compared to game tie-ins it was great. If a game company can go make a better movie than a movie company can make a tie-in, well you have to ask if it's right to let a movie maker rape a game plot like we've seen in the past.

When people move away from the plot it ruins everything, fans end up with a bad taste in their mouth, and then it's irrelevant whether the movie is well made or not.

This, like any video game movie can be a hit or miss, for most of the game movies I've seen, I don't think they do themselves justification.

I actually liked Silent Hill and Resident Evil was a watchable action film, if you ignore the title. I've never seen Hitman or FarCry and because I loved both games, I don't think I will. Max Payne I never played, so I watched the movie as a movie and it wasn't anything special. DOOM I think was just awful.

Though I wouldn't mind seeing something that's good and true to the video game. Bioshock has a lot of potential, whilst it has a lot of potential, there's so much that could go wrong, after all the character you play relies a little on your imagination of him and it's possible that that the film could be ruined by the character alone.

I too liked Silent Hill, and I also liked the Resident Evil films although I really can't stand OTT action scenes anymore. I liked Hitman somewhat. Far Cry was was pretty bad, which was a shame as it could have been something interesting. I liked Doom for its entertainment values but they went full-retard with the plot like with many of these game-to-film ideas.

In other words, it won't be worth watching. I don't know who did that Street Fighter film but somehow they managed to make it worse than the first. So many annoying clichés, especially in the script. I actually liked the first film when I saw it (probably because when you're younger you don't care so much for good acting) and I still do. Realistically it was pretty bad in many aspects but it had something that I liked. This film however, didn't.

I think a BioShock film could be good if the right people make it. I've not really played the game a lot (I played a demo and didn't really like the same generic gameplay that a lot of games have), but I like the setting.

That's what I hated about it, alongside the acting and it didn't have enough to grip me, not even as a cheesy film.

Ya, I haven't seen the new one(heard loads of bad reviews) but I also liked the first one. Can't go wrong with Jean-Claude VanDamme as Guile!

I liked Doom as well. [/ducks] I thought it looked neat and had some decent effects. The acting nor the story was very good, but I did enjoy the FPS sequence near the end. Especially the chainsaw fight with Pinky.

Anyways, I think Bioshock would be cool if it is done right. But I also believe that could be said about any other game-based movie. Even the crappy ones could have been done right.

I've never seen Doom, Far Cry or Silent Hill, but it's excellent that the Bioshock movie is being made. Bioshock's storyline is some of the best I've ever seen, and so being a movie should be a matter of entertainment.
I will definitely watch this when I have the chance.

I'm still waiting for a proper Hitman film, you know where it has something to do with the games. It may as well have been called "Carry On Assassinating".
I feel sorry for Tim Olyphant, he tried hard but he just isn't 47.
Who do you think would make a good 47? (excluding the guy who is 47 in the games, why wasn't he cast?)

Liam Neeson?
