Hi there!
I've heard a lot about the game Umbra by Butter Fingers and its unique game style. Me and a friend are thinking of making something similar to the atmosphere that is described in Umbra and want to try the game.
In other words..Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the game? Butter Finger's filefront link for the game is dead.. :/

Umbra just so happens to be the best, most fun, and most original FPSC games I had ever played. It had a place on my hard drive for a long time, till I removed it due to space issues...

Trust me, it is. If you get the chance to play it, put your sound up and lights off, it is very freaky. I really like it because Butters mainly used media which is available to all forum members, whether through free downloads or Model Packs. Really wish I could get a copy, now that this thread reminded me of it.

I've searched high and low and not been able to locate the file on the web anywhere. I wish someone who has the file on their hard drive would see this and upload it again.

Yes. It is a bunker that secretly raises bunnies, and then the army sells them for money...don't tell anyone I know this...

But yeah, Umbra looks sick well, actually I don't know what it is but if it's that game that uses modified characters from MP22, then maybe I know

Hello! Thanks for the comments.
I don't have umbra any more (sob) if anyone DOES have a copy please please please get in touch with me on the address in my profile.
I'd love to post this up again, but since I formatted my PC when it was virused I lost the files!

You could get back to FPSC to make a cool mod then make another Umbra or Fall of the Fireflies

I think he should use one of his current engines to re-make Umbra/Fall of the fireflys.

It was one of the first titles I saw that got away form the "boxy" look of standard FPSC; and it had custom work all around (including characters).

There is HDD recovery tools out there, you can get stuff back you've previously formatted and usually works awesome. I use it all the time for stuff I've formatted YEARS ago

There is a TINY chance I could get the file. A year and a bit ago I installed Umbra on my friends PC to show him it (because I liked it so much). Since then, I've moved abroad, but I'll phone him up to see if he still has it.

Even though it's all opinion, you're arguing with half of FPSC's users here.
It's not the best FPSC game ever made, but it surely deserved it, it was one of the few games with custom stuff all around, and though it was short, it was some of the most fun from FPSC I've had in a long time.

A huge huge huge hug and a thankyou to Bullshock who found me a copy of Umbra on his hard drive. I'll be re-uploading it soon and will add a new link to it.

Quote: "I dont understand why FOTF bas rated BOTB.

I'd agree that now, FOTF isn't really BOTB. But dude, you have to remember that when I put FOTF out there it was a long time ago, and there were no Mods for FPSC, let alone games with 100% custom media! It's very positive for the FPSC community that FOTF looks dated now. It means that the community is moving forward, and that the standard is getting better!

I can never really come back to FPSC. People are pushing the engine further than I ever thought would be possible, and all these source mods and changes have just created a whole new level of creativity. I'm impressed with what the FPSC community is doing now, but I think that working with DB has meant that FPSC has moved on too far for me to catch up!

I tried to do it from the office, but rapidshare is getting upset because of the dynamic IP, or something. I don't really understand, I just made that up. But it's close enough.

I'll do it when I get home tonight. Keith and Xplosys I will be in touch when it's up. If I have the bandwidth I'll host it on my server!

OMG, this game scared me more then Condemned 2, Dead Space, Doom 3 bla bla bla yada yada yada...

Although I must say the major down point to this game is the pitch black hallway. It took me 5 minutes to find the door! And that bathroom scared the *bleep* outa me! I'm terrified of animated water (weird, but my personallity) so that bathroom thing scared me, even though i knew I'd fall through the floor. What happened at that point anyway?

Thanks Xplosys, It should have been allocated to my premium account, but for some reason it didn't! I then tried to transfer it to my premium and I lost the file! Is it ok if I use your link?

Thankyou Marc. Who knows?! It's not to say that there isn't an umbra 2 in the pipeline. I just think that perhaps FPSC isn't the right tool for the job!

And I made all the audio myself, although obviously my (lovely) girlfriend did some of the voices!

Lols, no I think it's always been called umbra!

LOL, well that bit is pretty hard, but I wanted some of it to be strange and disorientating!

I'm just really pleased that although FPSC has come a long way since umbra, people still enjoy playing it!
