shadowfire, the game isn't just designed to scare. It's the atmosphere which the game creates, through the use of lighting and audio. You'll need to understand that if you want to stand a chance in the MIND-Trix competition

Hypnagogia by xplosys is just plain...weird...i love games like that

Like marc said, the point of this contest is to make great illusions and stuff as its mind "TRIX" so you have to trick the player.

lol, not the actual game's name. I thought marc's post said "Penumbra" not "Umbra: Episode 2"

"Walk into the darkness and fear..."

The audio clip says something like that anyway

Basically, walk forwards and you should go through a black wall.

I seem to be unable to play it. It just says "Runtime Error 8003 - could not find path at line 2174".

I'm guessing that no one else has had this problem.

Maybe its because you copied it somewhere? I ran it from my desktop and worked.

There's nothing to copy, it's just a .exe file

If you look in the right places, you can find the source files. It's a lot nicer to be able to run the game straight away than go through the extracter each time.

I know where to look, but it still gives the error. I re-downloaded it to see if I had a corrupt download but no dice it gave the same error. It's no big deal, I think I may have played it when it was originally released.

Beginning of the level is annoying.
Is there a way from those pitch black hallway with flickering lights to come?

I always come back to the beginning.
I stopped playing then, and remove the game

Just keep looking for those lights and go forward, you will find a way out eventually.

It's really not that difficult...just follow the lights and keep track of the ones which you have passed. The sound will give you clues when you make progress.

I'm guessing that it has something to do with the packing software that he used. Does anyone know what it was written in?

It was FPSPACK by RastaWorld or something?

It was released before Vista I think, so there might be some compatibility issues?

That's a good start. I have played the game in XP and 7, but not Vista. Can anyone else with Vista confirm whether or not it works for them?

Thanks Keith!

Xplo, That's interesting that you got it running in 7. I haven't managed to get a DB project running at over 10 FPS in 7, no matter what I do. Is there some setup thing that you have to do. I've heard it has somethin....actually this is way off topic, we'll talk about it some other time.

What is the name of the software you use? I'm intrigued by the idea of recovering long lost data - I could get back my old models and projects
