Apparently you've been slapped for suggesting the cheapest way to get FPSC is by "illegal means" (not the word you used).

He asked what the cheapest way of obtaining FPSC was, he did not specify whether or not it had to be legal. Just stating the facts.

The AUP only states as user will be punished if s/he posts illegal content, for example, to a P2P site. I wasn't seriously suggesting he should illegally download FPSC...

Anyway, back in January 09 I posted a thread on Piracy (which is still in my signature, I should probably remove it now) which only got locked after page 2. It broke many of the AUPs, yet it took over 2 weeks for the thread to be locked, and no one was punished.

Quote: "Due to continuous problems the following subjects are also banned from discussion on all of our forums:

*
3.7 Debate about religious belief or any tangent of religion
*
3.8 Debate about any form of pro or anti government sentiments, irrespective of which government
*
3.9 Debate about any form of creationist / evolutionary theories"

Whether you were serious or not, it is not something that is condoned here. Since you are quoting AUP; here's one for you:

Quote: "3.17 Our forums are moderated by both TGC employees and trusted non-paid members of the public who volunteer their services and time for the benefit of the community. By using our forums you automatically agree that they cannot be held personally responsible for any actions arising from these forums. You agree that moderators shall, at their discretion, determine what constitutes a violation of theses terms, along with generally accepted nettiqute standards, and can take action against those who violate these rules."

Having said all this; I was not the one who slapped you for it, though if I would have seen it first I would have.

AUPs have a funny way of covering every hole. Anyway, I will bring an end to this thread.

That's because you can't write an AUP to cover every situation.

Take it like a man! You're not a seasoned member until you've been slapped a couple of times.

Yup, I had to take a breather from the forums the last time I was slapped. I guess I wasn't quite the man at that time.

Of course, I've learned a thing or two.

Even Mods need a good slapping now and again.

I haven't been slapped since.... well, it's been many years now.

Well... I guess I'm not a seasoned member then... Never been slapped/banned, because frankly, the rules aren't that hard to follow. And if someone is starting to get under my skin, that's what talking to other people on MSN is for.

I have been slapped more than enough times. Probably enough where I shouldnt be posting this now. The only thing I can tell you is to not argue, because well, even if the mods don't follow the AUP, there isnt a darn thing you can do about it. I think I learned that the hard way. The very hard way.

Hi, it’s Robert with Stealthmod! You’ll be saying Stealth every time you use this mod! It’s like CoD! It’s like L4D! It’s like BioShock. A regular mod doesn’t work good – this works good and great.

I also managed to get noob slapped after a year or two. Made two similar threads by mistake because I lost track of the first of them.

That actually was pretty noobish of me

Running my latest game superbly on FPSC and Project Blue Mod.

It is even more irritating that the post just above did violate the AUP directly, as the rules state clearly not to do this.

Quote: "The following software related topics, and discussion of them, are banned from all of our forums:

3.4a Links to ebay or similar auctions for any of our software"

Quote: "ebay i got mine off

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PC-CD-ROM-FPSC-or-FPS-Creator_W0QQitemZ270447885297QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS?hash=item3ef7f33bf1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
£15.95

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PC-CD-ROM-FPSC-or-FPS-Creator-Old-Art-Same-Version_W0QQitemZ270447885011QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS?hash=item3ef7f33ad3&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
£12.96

They both send worldwide"

That directly violates the AUP, unlike my post. How can you be punished for acknowledging piracy when we clearly all know it exists? That is like being punished for saying Poverty or AIDS exists.

Quote: "You agree that moderators shall, at their discretion, determine what constitutes a violation of theses terms"

This is clearly not reasonable, as a direct offence is not punished while acknowledging piracy is. Hung for theft, jailed for murder.

How long does this \"restriction\" last anyway. It is very annoying seeming as every post I\'ve made except for 1 in 3.5 years has been accepted, and I now have to wait for them to go through. Also, when the post is verified, it does not show up on the forum \"Last Post\" area.

Speaking of forum errors, I just got quite a funny one:

Unknown System Error while posting reply. Sorry but I have to abort now. Please try again later.

You're right; that did, however I didn't see it and no one brought it to my attention. Contrary to popular belief (as it's been said before), we do have a life outside of these Boards.

Quote: "How can you be punished for acknowledging piracy when we clearly all know it exists?"

That would have been different, had it been brought up in a conversation about piracy. However, you basically told someone the cheapest way to get FPSC was to pirate it...point blank (joking or not).

Quote: "That is like being punished for saying Poverty or AIDS exists."

Comparing piracy and Poverty or the AIDS epidemic is insulting and disgusting.
