Hey everyone - Just thought i'd post a message saying "Hey!"

I'm pretty new to the forums so I thought it would be polite to introduce myself to you all!

I'm very new to all of this, but I have an expert tutor.. But I have an interest in all things computer.. But my knowledge is very little compared to the majority of you! I'd get eaten alive by the majority of you i'm sure but!

Hiya, welcome!

New people should steer away from the posting compettion, its set in thier so we dont need to be polite or really mannered, not a good example to act around the forum lol.

Swearing is not allowed and S####### isnt ethier. Found that the hard way ^^'

I'm one of the old dogs, started on this forum a year after it was created and was part of RGT, LLRGT, LLLLRGT, ect.. before. You won't know what RGT is but you might randomly come across someone mention.

Oh, and hello.

Yay, a Girl!!!

So you are learning DarkBASIC Classic? Not DarkBASIC Pro? Great!

If this is the case, you are welcome to join the DarkNOOBS team. DarkNOOBS is a DBC team lead by experienced programmers specifically to teach new people like you programming skills and team skills. You have to make a small entry before you can join to show your programming skills. Like "display the system time in a fancy way".

Just write a simple program to show the level of your skills, and please paste it into a code snippet box:

Just highlight your code after pasting it into the message editing box and hit the "code" button at the top left.

The DarkNOOBS team can be found on the DBC board:

Dark Basic Classic discussion

or you can go straight to the thread:

Noobs Wanted

Of course, I'm not forcing you to join... It would just be a good experience for you.

Welcome!

But I don't understand this 'girl' you are all talking about. Is this some kind of programming language? I have never heard of a 'girl' before.

You're coding skills are probably far better than mine. In fact, I've been in game design since 2007, and I still can't make a rotating cube application.

Oh well, coding clearly isn't my thing.

I hope you bring some order to this community, we already have a female user called Tanya (Leaning objects to the side), and she doesn't have a bad word against anybody.

Hi, welcome!

I can't think of anything else to say now. Hmm.

Well, you seem very nice and well spoken and enthusiastic, so: have another "welcome" on me!

Oh, and about Grandma: nobody's quite sure what he (she? it?) is. I think it was a person once. But I don't know any more...

Oh I doubt that m'dear... Though one day when I'm wise and knowledgeable i'll prove myself wrong :p

@ Everyone else: Cheers! Hopefully you'll be hearing a fair bit from me. Doubt that you'll be seeing much of my work 'cause i'm rubbish at the moment! But i make up for my lack of code with enthusiasm... I hope ;P

So what's your background like? Have you previously done any programming or design work or is this really your first step?

Well I'm always telling my boyfriend what I think looks good in his games and what I think should be in his game and stuff.. And I got bored of watching him (you have to admit it is pretty boring to watch someone code - or that may just be me...) so I wanted to have a go it myself! I'm a complete noob to it, it really is my first step!

My gf used to do the same thing, and she's really picky since she's all into the feng shui of organization and design. But my most polished work usually comes out when she stands over my shoulder. So keep kicking your bf in the rear, it works on us geeks.
