I'm trying to compile a database of websites which hold regular (or frequent) design based contests, e.g Threadless.

The contests can be anything to do with Illustration, Photoshop, product design, graphic and new media.

If we start making a list here too it'll benefit the budding designers we have

PSD Tuts+ ( http://psd.tutsplus.com/ ) - frequent Photoshop based competitions.

Contests are a great way to increase your skill at design, so this list will be good for those who aren't too great at design either.

The fact of the matter is, for a contest you're always giving 100% because you're motivated by the grand prize (whatever it is).

If you're always giving 100%, you're always improving. Especially if you suck, and you can look at the uber designs that actually won and seeing what they did right and what you did wrong.

BiggAdd beat me to it. I won 150$ off 99designs once. Been meaning to jump back over there for more competitions.
