well i made this gun as i needed a brake from my other model ive bin makingXD anyway, its an Hk Mk.23 =P or just Mk.23, now however i took the time to make a silencer to it and for the fun of it, to make it a bit sci fi alike, an sight ^^ nope, not a scope, more of a sight to a assault rifle =P

by the way, i made the blueprint/concept thanks to this site: http://pimpmygun.doctornoob.com wich is totally awesome^^

now PICS:

first of the blueprint:

Looks great, although I think theres a couple of places where I would have skimped more on the polygon count. The screw above the trigger for instance is a little overkill IMO as that side of the gun is rarely seen, not too many lefties in warfare these days.

The end of the barrel is a little OTT as well, really I think to get the most from the model you should make a low poly version with a normal map based on this version. So the screw, the barrel detail, the grip and side extrusions and recesses - these could be left to the normal map, saving lots of polygons.

These are not comments about the quality of the model of course, just some thoughts on using it in a game and how it could cost a bit less in performance while still looking good.

thanks Van B, i know that side is rarely seen, but it is hard as heck to get ref pics for the right side of the gun these days anyway i know the screw is kinnda overkill, but it looked so booring without it =P polycount is like ~2k polys

edit: oh, i seemed to have bumped a bit.

Remember those old guys? They made epic renders, I think one of them was called DaVinci, and all they used was MS Paint. Sometimes it's just skill....

I would just bevel that pointy bit from the front of the trigger surround. I did look at the real gun, and it is slightly rounded there.

Ahh, the Mk. 23. Honestly, I'm more used to having the light attatched... OKAY I HAVE A CONFESSION! I've played far too much Metal Gear Solid 4 Online for one lifetime . Haha just kidding (I've played too much for several lifetimes), anyways, the gun looks great! The one problem I always have with gun models I see is this: DOES IT HAVE AN INTERIOR? I'm just one of those paranoid people that make everything the player can possible see about the gun, so that no one can notice anything and say: "That's awkward... (At least since the last gun I worked on)
