There's a reason why it doesn't have it's own board, have you noticed the lack of activity in HERE? Why would they make (for example) 5 forums, with each 1 post PER WEEK? That's just a waste of space on the Index page.

Maybe they should make people want to buy it instead, and actually show them how to add all sorts of content. Then we would have a reason for this.

There are plenty of sites out there that have x10 forums. However, none of them have close to as many posts as the TGC forums. I agree that there should be more sections to the x10 forums because it is easier to locate the information that is needed and if people saw that there was a community for x10 like there is for x9, then more people would probably want to buy x10.

The community forum is about the closest to TGC as you'll get and we do have a lot of posts...

The fact that there's very little X10 activity though is TGC's fault...there's no activity on their side, and the community has done just about all it can with X10 in the state that it's in...there's not much else we can do until the migration's done. Plus, there are a bunch of X10 features that either don't work or work poorly. Some of them we don't even know if they work..

Personally, I haven't been very active lately due to the fact that the Unity Engine is a whole lot more interesting and flexible (I'm not the only X10 user drifting towards the Unity camp either...). I've been making loads of media lately, it's just not worth my time going through the effort of getting it fpsc-ready. For those interested in checking it out, [href]www.unity3d.com[/href]

Basically, the reason the X10 forums are so dead is because there's not much left to talk about. Asides from the occasional question about how to do something that is.
The only new thing until the migration will be having the store integrated into X10. Yay. Personally, I think that move will be a failure and won't bring in much revenue to TGC. Why? Because X10 users are tired. There's no X10-only media on the forums, or very little. (The community forum store is the closest it gets). There's not much point wasting money on software that that's being ignored; it's a bad investment. TGC is ignoring X10 and that is why it's failing as a product and why the community is shriveling up.
There's also the fact that it and any games made with it only run on Vista w/DX10 gpu. Seriously? There's not a single program that I know of that is Vista only with no backwards compatibility. It's a stupid move, especially from a business standpoint. X10 games can only be played by X10 users. So how can making an X10 game possibly be profitable? Even as a hobby, it will only be enjoyed by a limited selection.

TGC may give the excuse that there aren't a lot of X10 users, but that's their own fault; their neglect of it is what is turning users off. Many users are now actively searching for alternative engines. It's not that they want to, but TGC leaving them no choice. Based on the ads you'd think X10 is the ideal indie developer engine, perfect for making half-decent games with good graphics, but sadly it's not. Not with the lack of regular updates anyways.

A while ago during the 1.09 beta, I think I mentioned somewhere that it was great we were finally getting updates but that I was worried TGC was only doing it because X10 users were making a lot of noise; throw them a bone so TGC could go back to what they were doing before. Seems like that's how it turned out after all.
Based on it's history, TGC appears to have no intention of supporting X10, only enough to keep users from making too much noise. It's not about getting an update here and there, it's about getting a constant stream of updates. Even if they're small updates that fix a bug here and there, it's better than being ignored for a year.

I've had a play with the Unity engine trial. The editor is nice and I have to agree with you on the asset importing which works very well and the fact they get updated in real time as you amend and save them is a huge time saver.

All I would say is the Indie version is $199 which is reasonable but the pro version is $1499 which has some key features such as realtime shadows. For example the sewer control room project recommends Unity Pro in this link
http://unity3d.com/support/resources/example-projects/sewercontrolroom

Unity looks like the next logical step from FPSC X10 in terms of ease of use vs results with a more powerful and flexible engine. However there is more to creating a game then importing assets.

How does Unity stack up for ease across the board compared with FPSC X10 and will I find myself trying to put $1499 together to get a product that really makes the move from FPSC X10 worthwhile?

I'd be interested to see how anyone's Unity work in progrss is shaping up.

I know that x10 is getting ignored which is sad because with most of the mods for x9 that our out there people are getting products that in alot of cases are better than x10. I think that TGC should let x9 go for other people to upgrade it with mods, while TGC upgrade x10 because they don't let us.

Just merge the FPSC and the FPSCX10 forums, no need for this forum.
Then add the options from "Programming Talk" which adds either [FPSC], [FPSCX10] or [FPSC + X10] in front of the subject.

And it's just too bad that TGC seems to be a one man programmer too :p

Oh well, we can only hope the migration is somewhat happening

TGC should never have made X10. They haven't even sorted out X9. Even X9 should still be in beta, it's definitely not working properly ATM.

I rarely encounter issues with FPSC. You know, most errors on a PC are between the Keyboard and the back of the seat.

FPSC X10 is a joke application we ask for simple things, things that should have been fixed before it was even made a public release.

There was a time i thought TGC would do well and be the industry leader for Indie game development, but in the last 6 months especially they have dropped so far that it has come to a point, where none of its users like the program any more. All the new users give it one try and leave straight away. TGC must have so many refunds they are making a lose on FPSC, hence the big giveaway of all of their products.
When and if we get updates they are no good they cause more bugs than they fix.

Now after that rant i would like to say that i have totally stopped using FPSC i dont make media for it, i dont even have it installed (actually no idea where the box is) i have given up hope on it.
The one and only reason i still post here is i want to be able to help everyone that is still trying to get along with FPSC. That is the reason FPSC-Online is still open and will continue to be open until such a time that there are no visitors to it. here on thsi site i have maybe a few months more of visiting then i will go for good and just be on FPSC-Online, because it has got to be more than a joke and not worth the time put into it.
If you want TGC to do anything the only way to get it is to go right up to Lee and scream it in his face cos here on the forums nothing ever gets done about anything.

Good Luck all getting the forums here and best of luck makigna game with this extremely bad program.
