Hy guys. Its that time in my life where my school has no plans for after the GCSE exams and so they have said that we need work experiance. So I have two questions;

Does the TGC do work experiance?

Is the TGC located in England?

If both of the answers to these questions are yes, then i think that i will email rick or lee. Otherwise im gonna have to do work with a family friend who designs games for Treyarch. To be honest that is my second choice, but id like to get all the facts first.

Haha, when I needed to do work experience I said I was good with computers and have some experience with programming at multiple levels and they sent me to work in a tool shop.

Everyone at TGC works from home, so I'm not sure your school would let you, even if TGC agreed .

Give them an email first, because none of us can tell you for sure whether Lee is ready recruit work experience people. You never know, if you're in the Yorkshire area (I doubt you can do it if you are counties away from the TGC employees) maybe they'll let you.

But then every 16'ish year old will be demanding work experience with them

hehe, you make that sound like a chore. That backup sounds great

Yes. Spambots roam the internet, following link after link, harvesting emails left in plaintext.

Spambots can't access that email because it's in plain text but they can access the one you posted. Thousands could get it in a day, but that's unlikely.

****Its still in plaintext*****

Spambots scan the HTML not look at the page, therefore if you have ANY email, it will still be able to find it. The one in your profile can be easily (as easily as if you put it into the post) harvested.

I'd probably go for the TreyArch one, that's probably a pretty decent place to go for work experience, if your interested in game dev it might be more beneficial looking at a game studio than sitting in Lee's basement serving him coffee and maintaining his Megadeth collection, whilst he types in the codes (or as they are sometimes referred to as 'teh codez')

Though I suppose there's no harm in asking. Either way it'd probably beat what I did and that's working in a primary school helping looking after 5-years olds - though at that age they're too innocent to be annoying, so it wasn't that bad. Though had I started 3D modelling a year earlier, I might have tried Maxon (creators of Cinema 4D) as their UK-based HQ wasn't too far from where my Dad worked.

How many times does this have to be said. The EMAIL in your profile is NOT STORED IN PLAIN TEXT within the HTML! If you don't believe me check the page source.

In America it's a catch-22. You can't get a job without work experience and you can't get work experience without a job. There are exceptions of course.

I would ask Mr. Treyarch first (Captain Treyarch sounds better) as that doesn't sound like a sure thing either.
I wouldn't think there'd be much for you to do for TGC, you'd probably end up ironing Lee's socks.
Of course you should ask first, no one got anywhere but listening to a bunch of nay sayers like us, even if none of us have actually said "nay"... apart from me

I say email Rick and Lee. They are not going to read this thread and email you.

Tell them you will spend your time updating the DBPro documentation help files!

I'm not a real programmer but I play one with DBPro!

I doubt you will get work experience with tgc - as already mentioned they work from home and its very unlikely your school would allow that. Their head office might let you clean or make cups of tea or something but its based in Wigan, Lancashire; not exactly a commutable distance and for the short time I pressume its for(trident? - 2 weeks?) I think you shouldn`t worry too much on where you carry it out. Work experience(if its trident or similar) had no impact on getting a job after finishing school for me. However getting into a games design company might lead to better things, you never know!

Team17 and Rockstar are closer

You could talk to Game Republic, they may have information on who is willing to take on Work Experiencers. Here is their links page to all local games companies - http://www.screenyorkshire.co.uk/gamerepublic/games-companies/

Oh, my bad I think I muddled up the TGC place with the site of the TGC convention... if that is the case I don't think doing work with TGC will be any easy job.

Kinda like you can't get a job with bad credit, but you can't fix your credit without a job.
