Hellow!

I'm currently making a game in DB. I'm setting the HUD up so that it uses sprites, but that is should run on any screen resolution.

As a default I'm assuming the most common screen setting is 1024x768, but my suspicion is that most people actually have something else! A bit like making web pages for 800x600 even though 800x600 has to be massively outdated! So, Without too much bragging about how incredible your screen and Rig is please could people post their Current monitor resolution? It would really help me to get an idea of the average settings out there.

I know that I'm not a MOD and can't really dictate what you post, but please please avoid posting comments or anything else, lets keep this on topic : i.e your monitor settings!!

I want robotic legs.

1366x768. It's a widescreen laptop display. But I'd happily display anything 1024x768 or lower, as some games I've downloaded do that.

1366x768 is the maximum my computer will display. So I make everything 1024x768. Cheap monitors don't display too high, so I imagine a cheap-skate might not be able to reach the higher resolutions some people have.

Add that some people has net-books now, which display lower resolutions, that I am not sure how high they go. Though I can't imagine a net-book being used for gaming.

So I too would argue your best bet is '1024x768'.

Oh and I have a Dual Core Processor - look at me, Mr Fancy-computer pants. (Sorry, I had to make a mockery of your request)

1680x1050. Although I'm wishing I had a non-widescreen one, as older games don't support widescreen and is rather annoying having fat jedis in Star Wars: KoTOR.

There's usually an unofficial widescreen patch.

1440x900, 16:10 ratio
Changing aspect ratios/resolutions for a sprite game isn't a big deal for me though. It will just look a tad stretched. The only time I run into problems is with 3d games that don't support my resolution--then it's a trip to Alias Land.

So in conclusion, do what Seppuku said; or alternatively, offer a stable Windowed mode--then you don't have to worry about weirdo resolutions like mine.

The average smoker spends $1500 per year on cigarettes. That amount of money could feed 16 impoverished third-world children for an entire year.

Enjoy your cancer.

See if either your monitor or graphics card has an option not to stretch the image when you use other aspect ratios.
