I have been using a dual setup for quite awhile now. I love it. I recently got a 42" HD tv that I would now like to optionally use as a screen to watch movies or tv shows off my PC. Ok. So I wanna keep my 2 LCD desktop screens as well but my video card has only 2 ports. I thought buying a DVI splitter would be sufficient but it seems when I plug the TV and my primary (or secondary) monitor into the splitter the tv and the monitor plugged in stays blank.

I am aware the splitter won't expand and give me a 3rd desktop. I just want it mirrored with one of my screens but it seems it won't give me any image with the splitter plugged in. Anyone have any experience with this short of using an expensive KVM switch? Any insight would be grand! Thanks.

I had this problem a few weeks ago, I dont know if its the same reason but it might be because the resoulution is not supported (I.E. its too high or too low), try lowering it down.

this is where my signature is supposed to be.

Remember your tv isn't going to be any higher than 1920x1080

Really? Whenever I plug into my HDTV's D-Sub, it offers rediculously high resolutions (3000xsomething if I remember) and then proceeds to downscale whatever comes its way.

Well, the splitter just doesn't seem to be working period. It won't display anything on any screen that's plugged into it, alone or with the tv. I know for sure that the resolution isn't an issue becuase if I just plug my tv into my video card it just works without an issue. It's only when things go through the splitter. Then it just doesn't display at all

I suppose I may just have a bad splitter, but is there any reason why perhaps it may not be feeding enough signal to the screens? Is there a power issue from the video card? I just don't feel like there should be any tricks to this... It's been around for ages. I'm kinda assuming I just have a bad splitter :\

I would have to agree about the splitter. Is there something else you could test it with just to make sure?

No, not really. I tried it with all combinations of my 3 screens in both ports of my video card. All with the same results.
