I need to texture an object face by face. I need to select a face and aply textures that fit the face. I did it in 3dws without problem but i don't know how to do it in 3ds max . Unwrap objects is not my solution...

You could use auto unwrap function to make an uvmap in seconds.

Simply go to Render-Render to texture and select unwrap only, then on the right side you will see unwrap, before you click it set the uvmap channel to 1,now click unwrap and render your uv template and enjoy.

Or if you want to do it your way, select the object, right click on it,convert to-editable poly then select that small square on the right menu then simply select the face you want, above the right menu in that bar click, scroll down to unwrap uvw and click unwrap.
