can anyone tell me what the best and or easiest program for building a town landscape that can be incorporated into dark basic pro, im a complete novice so i would prefer more easier than best, i want to build a town about 10 square miles for a free roaming driving game.

There is a 3D resources thread on top of this board. I recommend you to check it out. Other than that, I can recommend Blender, Milkshape, Wings 3D, Truespace.

As for texturing, I recommend Gimp or Paint.NET.

if u do not intend to sell it, i recommend xsi softimage mod tool =P free to use for mods and non commercial projects^^

Anim8or is easy too. I made, and textured 3 buildings in half an hour the other day. One of them even had a loft extension which is quite tricky.

i would reccomend doing a not verry detailed design in sketchup, inporting it into blender and adding detain then using photoshop (or gimp/paint.net) to texture it. if you are going to do a detailed town then it would probably take a few months. if your making a simple tow it would take a couple of days
