It's been a while, but I've decided to come back and show you a couple of EAI's weps in Source - this time, with proper lighting/normal map/shader/smoothing group/animation support.

For now I'm afraid they're just overwriting the HL2 weapons, so you wont see videos of some of the weapons.

Those shaders are INSANE, dude. How come we can;t have that epicness in FPSC?

To get your spirits even further down, this isn't actually a custom shader. It's the unedited Source bump map shader.

The lighting is what causes the bump map to cause funky effects.

I think they might be x10 modified or something cause the x10 shaders are a the same as image 2

Don't be daft, Half-Life 2 was released in 2004. If anything, X10 used a modified HL2 shader - if you think they look that similair.

I opened EAI's .x in XSI mod tool, re-exported the text version of directx (it's not perfect, but there seems to be none-minimal model/animation damage)

Then the process from there is too complicated for me to repeat again.

Let's just say I had to decompile the HL2 weapons, export each separate animation to overwrite those decompiled ones and then re-compile it.

No, but as EAI stated in the last thread,

Quote: "There really isn't a more suitable board on Apollo than here (MPs 9/10 are FPSC products, after all). It's fun, if nothing else, to see someone putting FPSC assets into source rather than the usual reverse trend of "how do I rip media from HL2/CSS into FPSC?""

I want the guns to have that funky shaders in Half-Life 3! There is nothing better than Half-Life 2, by now!

Nice work, man. I dig how the hands look in the 2nd pic. It doesn't seem to like how I modeled the 870 stock though

Looks quite good.

You could get a similarly good look with a shader model 3 effect in FPSC X9 and FPSC X10 supports parallax mapping on guns so it could look even better.

I think the technical challenge of getting a high quality game asset from FPSC into the Source engine is the more impressive demonstration on show here. You should do a tutorial or something.

The thing I found frustrating about Source is custom characters can only be rigged / imported in the engine using XSI mod tools. Sure the mod tools are free but XSI is $3,000. Also I didn't really rate HDR in the lost coast level. Perhaps episode 3 will make better use of it.

Say we imported that shader from source and used it in FPSC? That'd rule.

Looks great Aaagreen. (btw, tracking your mod on moddb now, even though I probably can't play it anyways. I have ep 2 for the xbox 360, and not for pc. Does your mod use the Ep 2 engine?)

Yeah, it uses the EP2/Orange Box engine. I'm still debating whether to include episodic content, but I'll probably just stick to HL2 and CSS for now, and slowly replace the content.

I don't know head nor tails of using mods for Source, since I do have CS:S, could I play Torn? Those screens look awesome, I wonder what EAI's guns would look like in Crysis
