How many of you have wanted to to create a scene that works by changing a static entity to a dynamic entity? Why not have a scripting command that does just that? The potential for awesome set pieces is endless. For example, say the player is walking across a long wooden bridge over a huge canyon. As the player gets to the middle, the plank he is stepping on falls out beneath him and he plummets down to the ground below while the rest of the bridge is destroyed.

Just think about it

Can you save the crew of LV21?

Interesting suggestion, to be sure.

Due to static entities being calculated into the building of the level, prior to gameplay, I'm not sure if the engine would be able to handle swapping static for dynamic on the fly.

That's what I thought, but you could swap it from immobile to mobile, and keep it dynamic all the time.

That would be impossible. Static objects become part of the level during compiling, and they wouldn't be able to change to dynamic without being dynamic.

And you can easily do your bridge idea with a little scripting. The non-interactive parts of the bridge can be set to static, and the planks that you want to break as the player steps on them would be dynamic

Yeah, I doubt it could change to dynamic on the fly, but you could possibly make it so that you build a bridge with a number of planks, some being dynamic and some not, and script it so that when the player steps on the planks in the middle it falls beneath it.

Make it dynamic and use that delete in zone script.
