Been awhile but, I dusted off the code and decided to add a new feature into Signs. Animated decals, they are created by selecting only one image.

I have held off awhile in case of problems because my schedule is so busy. I decided to release Signs 5 now but, just realise that if you do find problems I will work them out as soon as I can.

If you own Signs this is a free update as always, if you do not own Signs then you will be limited on some of the things you can create or you can purchase the full version at www.fpsfree.com

Download available at www.fpsfree.com

Signs 5.01 is available, added ability to load custom sounds for animated decals

Oh wow this was unexpected!!! Signs 4 was one of my favorite, if not my favorite, 3rd party program for FPSC. It's almost too helpful lol.

This is awesome man.

Signature's are stupid.

Ditto.

Downloading now. I've owned signs for awhile and think it is a top-notch application.

I think the inclusion of a decal maker is a sweet idea, having briefly had a play there are a couple of things I'd like to see, if you're developing it further of course.

1/. A 'Revert' button that puts the decal back to normal, removing any effect.

2/. A 'Reset to default' for the effect parameters.

3/. A preview of what the finished effect would look like.

4/. The ability to add your own sound effect.

I've owned Signs for a long time and it is one of the top 3 apps I use with FPSC and I encourage everyone to buy it if they want to make their own stuff.

First . . thanks once again all, for your support for Signs.
I believe I have answered all emails I received also.

Secondly
This is the first version that actually creates DDS files (decals) directly and I will be adding that to all the other modules.

and lastly, Nickydude all great suggestions. 1 and 2 actually happen, sort of. Only one effect happens per decal, meaning if you select an effect and then decide on a different effect it resets the image before applying the second effect. Might give it that button to clear everything anyway so it appears more obvious.

3. (Preview) absolutely - a must, will add.

4. (own sound effect) again - a must, will add. and I swear the sounds actually sounded good when I created them. But, now sound echo-ish to me. A way to easily add your own sound effect is top on the list.

Reread...yes a restore to default values is on the list (#2)

Great news Terry! I suggested #1 because I sometimes do a hard drive search for all images on the computer and therefore don't go to a specific folder to load an image, loading the same image again means doing a search again but I can always do that.

Hey, I tried creating a "light glow" decal, and even though I tried a transparent .png and transparent .tga it still appears with black behind the glow filling the entire box.

Because it is a decal I assumed this is going to be saved with a transparent background. I simply used something I had lying around on my HD and tried a decal. Also, got a black background. Didn't try try a new transparent PNG though.

The transparency will NOT work at this time..I was going for the ground decals like lava, etc... but, I will be turning on transparency in release 5.02. 5.01 allows you to add your own custom sound effects. 5.01 is done and I just need to upload it.

I will be just uploading signs5.exe so you just need to download and replace your current signs5.exe. Once I get all the features in I will create a new install.

Edit: Signs 5.01 is available, added ability to load custom sounds for animated decals.

OK, thanks T. Good to know. I guess I wasn't looking at such things as ground decals.

Update version of Signs 5 animated decals available:
1 Add your own custom sound
2 Reset default values
3 Preview the decals animation
4 Transparency enabled

Note: More work to do but, thought I would throw out a beta version to make sure things are working.

Does this program still re-size all the maps to 512x512? That was my biggest problem with this program, I used to try to pump full 2048x2048 segment maps into fpsc, and it come out as mere 512x
Good work though, very cool.

We just purchased this application a couple of days ago and are really impressed with it. Definitely will recommend to other new people using FPSC to get it.

Great work.

I'm having trouble getting Signs V to register with my key. I have sent you an e-mail tschwarz on tschwarz [aa] data-tek [dot] com. I hope you still use that one.

Sorry for, what is likely, a very "noob" question.

Can you use Signs to make HUDs for FPSC?
I checked your website and under your "HUDs" section, there was something completely different.

Cheers,
NimmDae

Life's just a game.

..it was probably made using FPSC.

No Signs does not create or place HUDs.

S3D (a different program) has a feature to bring in
huds and move them around on the screen. Unfortunatly,
S3D is still a work in progress.

Shall we play a game?” - Joshua
