I decided to write a realy evil virus that will beat all these current offerings hollow, but since I can`t be bothered to learn ASM I decided to use the honour system instead, please follow the following instructions.

1.please delete any eight .dll files and two other random files from your hardrive every thursday from now on.

2.you are allowed to take ten copies of this post and send them to the first ten friends in your addresse book, please do so now.

my virus is far better than all the others since it gets past firewalls and virus checkers, please note that you enact the instructions at your own risk, I am not responsible for any damage to your PC, your OS or your data, remember this is based on the honour system, I am depending on you to spread this virus for me and delete your system files yourself, thank you.

you need to install a virus to kill this perfidous virus, it is so evil that you can`t kill it with normal antivirus measures, you have to install a virus that will infect it and remove the effects of it totaly, the best virri I have found capable of destroying this infection are

windows 3.1
windows 95
windows 98
windows 2000
windows xp
windows me
windows nt

they are all forms of the infamous windows virus, the only trouble is it is almost impossible to remove any of THEM from your PC unless you reformat and install Linux, sorry.

Mentor.

PS strictly speaking non of the windows virii are actualy a virus since they don`t actualy DO anything, but they do have some effect on my honour system virus, cheers.

Thats odd, I found an alternative anti-virus killer that basically involved a rusty blunt bladed axe with barbed wire wrapped around the fat end. You basically hold this implement using your right hand and very carefully apply a fast and quick swoosh against the adjoining link of your fore-arm and wrist of your left hand. After applying this first stage procedure, continue with the second stage by gently forcing your right arm, and hand implements into a local butcher's mangler. This will prevent any further infection of your computer, or anybody elses for that matter due to keyboard and mouse technical failures!

A much simpler way would be to throw a box of magnets into your computer. Preferably onto your hard drive.

actualy I don`t remember there being a windows 2.0 or 1, I must have missed it during my Amiga period??, can`t recall a thing about anything other than 3.1, maybe they just went from Dos to 3.1?, maybe they never released 1 and 2, come to that what happened to windows 4 to 97 (jk), did they think they where too unstable to release?

There was earlier versions of Windows but at the time, another GUI based system on the PC was GEM which ran on the old Herculies mono graphic boards... Before CGA and EGA , was more popular.

The original versions of Windows didn't allow overlapping windows either, so you can imagine how extremely popular it was LOL.

I got 3.11, 95, 98, 98se, nt4, 2k, xp-pro

And i think windows 1.0 looks the best. I really would like to install that on my old i386 lol, 8 megs ram, 8 colour graphics, 128k graphics memory, 200 meg hdd.

I wonder if you can install amiga workbench on a real computer? hmm...

I'm sure that if you looked for win1, or two, you could find some ol'site with an archive of it, Unless Bill still owns the patent on that still, considering he nicked it off Apple!!!! GEM might be available in some Archived form somewhere aswell LOL.

[EDIT] To be honest, I've never looked!

just change the line

shell=explorer.exe

in c:<reverse slash>windows<reverse slash>system.ini

to

shell=progman.exe

(win 98/98se)

and you get the win 3.1 interface instead of windows explorer, it`s included for backwards compatability in the windows install, you might find the 1.x versions in there if you know what they are called as an .exe

Mentor.

PS: why does this forum keep eating the reverse slashes??
