Been a long time since I've posted here or involved myself in any TGC related activity. Good to see plenty of familiar faces, and plenty of new ones too.

Myself, I've been busy with college, currently in my third year towards a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science at Penn State University Park. It's been a challenge, but so far it's been worth it.

So, how about you guys? How many members around here old enough to still remember me, and what have you been up to this entire time?

I vaguely remember your name...

You also appear to be one of the few people to get a 'Locked / Flamebait / Offensive' thread! Unfortunately, it wasn't a sticky and announcement as well...

Even though the only reason it marked as that because idiots posted things like....

Which is just pathetic of someone to say. And RIDICULOUSLY beyond insulting.

Not really trying to escalate. I just find it pathetic that someone has the nerve to say that. Anyways lets not go there I don't want this thread locked.

Glad to see so many familiar faces still around, especially Jeku and Van B

Yes, I can't say my past in the forums has been that productive (or peaceful ) but I've calmed down a bit and have been looking for a project to get underway alongside my studies, especially now that I've discovered a good game design club on campus.

I have to say University life is great. So many things I first learned here at the forums, such as writing shaders, vector math, etc, I can say I now truly understand.

It hasn't been at all fun and games though, and a majority of my classes have been generic programming courses (two courses in C++, one in Java, currently taking one in C for Systems Programming in Unix and MIPS Assembler/VHDL for Low-Level Hardware Programming), heavily math influenced (Discrete Math for Computer Scientists, Algorithms and Data Structures, three calculus courses and one vector/matrix math course), none specifically tailored to anything game design related, though all useful towards it.

Though I am looking forward to taking several classes next year more specified towards game design, specifically Computer Graphics Design and Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, and at least one network programming course.

Jeku, I know you graduated with a degree in comp. sci.. Do you still work at EA? Anything else you can recommend?

Though I've never even heard of you, I suppose it's always good to get some of the oldies back, whether they have been productive or not. Members from the past generally know more about the foundation of this community and how or why the software came to life then the newer ones do... Which makes them more or less respected by default.

Either way, welcome back. And don't hesitate to come by every now and then. Always nice to see some more faces around here, the new people sometimes creep me out.

Nah, I was laid off back in January, and my only recommendation would be to not get laid off

Anyways, getting laid off was the best thing to happen to my career, because I am now at a more stable senior position at a better company for almost 30% more pay. It's not games but it pays the bills, and I can make my games on the side any my employer can't do anything about it!

Hi, I remember you, you're from about the same period as me. Although I'm in my 4th year of a comp sci and physics degree here in Edinburgh now. I just stalk the forums from time to time looking for anything interesting. Some of you may remember me, my name and avatar hasn't really changed since the year I joined. *waits for a mod to look up some 6 year old nick*

Out of interest what sort of courses do you do?
