Hi, i intend to create a "far cry" style game and last night had a play with getting some vegetation working.

Anyway, this is one of 3 videos that are uploading (there a 1gb each so take while, although the 2nd one should nearly be done)

This one is just long grass, the other 2 have flowers.

No shaders involved, and really easy with good perfomances.

The jerkiness is unfortunatly the FREE video capture
these are at a resolution of 1920x1080 and i avarage about 40/50fps with the snyc rate at 50.

Im sure there has been many before, just thought i would show the early stages of mine.

Considering the amount of time uploading such large files would take, it would have been a good idea to lower the resolution and frame rate to YouTube's format before uploading.

The grass looks pretty cool, it'd be interesting to know just how efficient it is.

Not tryed, but will do in about 1 hour (when i get home from work)

I have dilibratly wacked things up. For instance texture sizes & quality, resolution, theres some standard lighting on it, the map itself, again its 3dWS with large textures ETC.

So i know for a fact that i can tone things down, my first example, which to be honest had no fence or rocks, and lower res i was maxing out FPS. But then again i did build my PC for gaming.

But, i also take this into consideration, want good looking games, need a goood system. Anyway ill let you know shortly.

Thanks
Andy

The frame rate of the capture plays exactly like that in the vid played on my system. Just not great capture softare im guessing. Unless somone knows a trick for this software...

And also 1 of the main points of the vid is to show performance against settings.

Thanks

Fraps seems to achieve higher capture rates, although the free version is limited to half a minute per video.
