hello,

when I just load a .x file, dbpro shows it with
a directional light on the z axis whereas I didn't create any light
and I didn't set the ambient light...

when I just set the ambient light, this directional light
is persistent !

does anybody know how to put it off ?
light is on but nobody inside

thanks
cheers!

The default directional light is the ambient light I think - if you want to get rid of it set ambient light to 100.

Theres no place like 127.0.0.1

you could try turning the ambient off with "hide light 0" , setting it to 100 just makes everything realy bright, and setting it to 0 doesn`t fully get rid of it, cheers.

start with an ambience of 50 so you can see a result.

light zero is the default light filling the screen
its automatically loaded

then turn the default light into any kind of light you want with the commands by feeding it the zero light number at the correct point in the command.

position it and color it if you want, dont forget you can colour the ambient light as well.

you're right Mentor !

thanks a lot for your help

first of all, we should always start with a "hide light 0"
before defining any light in the world
and after we can set the ambient light as we want
and it works well this time

thanks again !
cheers

I thought the first default light (light #0) is a directional light with the direction roughly (-1, -1, 1). As far as I know, ambient light is not really a true light. It gives the object a basic color shade even with no lights present or if the object is completed unlit by other light source. I could be wrong.
