Im wondering if I should enter the compo, the prize is very tempting, but I doubt I will be in with a chance

Enter anyway. If you don't enter, you're sure not to win anything.

any way it not the prizes it the wining that counts. but you are in with a chance there where 90 entry to the retro comp on 16 winne a Prize of some form. so it was you hand a just over a 1/5 chance. there are 10 prizes this time and i think there may be about a 100 entry this time so in so you have a 1/10 chance.

In the last compo we added more prizes at the last minute once we realised just how many cool entries there were. If the volume is the same this time there is nothing saying we won't do the same again.

Cheers,

Rich

Excellent, I wasn't expecting DarkMatter 2 info so early, that's great. I really love the alien model-- it's a lot of fun to work with and alter its textures. Great read

i'm wondering... just how far is being able to alter it... i mean if i made a new mesh but it looked the same would that count?

personally i'm going to make a game, not sure if i'll enter it just when i say the model and what me and my bro have been just having a natter about - well we had each other in stitches with an idea.
So as i said i'll be making a game, might enter it later - but just incase, if i upgraded the mesh - perhaps make it a little more polydense added some features like blinking and a mouth, combined the mesh together into a single mesh... perhaps defined out his muscles, added a few tweaks to his robotic body, maybe added some kinda armband to his arm.

that'd still all be oki right?

Can someone explain this to me:

26. No element of the Alienware Aurora PC can be changed or customised. If you win it, sell your existing PC and buy your own upgrades for it!

Now is it me, or does this rule contradict itself?

It's you. The first sentance refers to the fact that Aurora PC's are custom-built and usually the purchaser will select what graphics card and the amount of HD Space to include and then they will order it, the sentance basically tells us that we're not allowed to do this and must accept the specs supplied. The next sentance tells us that if we really want to change a gfx card we can sell our current PC and buy one with our own money and replace it ourselves.

What will happen if we already own prizes, like cshop 3, dbp, texture maker etc? Do ew just not get them.

If so, the people who will be getting all the free software will be the people who either used a dbp demo or only people who haven't bought any other packages from DBS, and the ones who have been long standing customers will get zip

Of course you still get them! What you then do with them is up to you.

What to do with 2 copies of CShop?

(unfortunately you can't just go down to your local Game and try and sell a copy of CShop second hand )

Sell it cheap to a friend. Sell it expensive to a friend. Eat it. *shrugs*

Raven-- The rules explain it pretty clearly. You can edit it however much you want, it'll be the judges choise on if it's still recognizable or not.

Another idea that springs to mind is "give friend serial number" . You can't sell a serial number for software to a friend. Well, I can try anyway

[ If you didn't understand the giving friend serial number bit was a JOKE, I was not serious - anyway, I have no friends who would be interested in that sort of thing ]

@Rich

Whilst thinking of forum improvements, would it be possible to add an option in the search box to search either the current board or all boards, as on the odd occassion, it isn't always obvious what board a particular thread might be in.
