Not hugely sure what you are saying here, but changing the ambience will not affect any static or dynamic lights you have placed. It simply regulates how bright a level is going to be. It doesn't affect the brightness of placed lights but the brightness of the level itself.

Remove placed lights like you do with entities. I'm still not 100% sure about what you're asking and it isn't exactly a scripting issue.

Are you sure you removed light markers not light entities?

What I think FPSC is doing is re-rendering your old lighting because nothing in the level has changed. Try moving an entity slightly and see if that helps.

Even if you have NO lights in the map it won't be dark. To make it dark you need at least one light placed on your map.

Yeah, try what Nickydude said and also clear your bin and dbo files, maybe FPSC is launching your whole level from those files, and so nothing has changed, though that shouldn't be the case.
Wow, what's with all the exclamation marks man?

What I said was actually slightly wrong, FPSC isn't re-rendering your old lighting, the lighting was already rendered from last time and FPSC is saying "Hang on, nothing has changed in the level so that must mean the lighting won't have changed so I'll just load up the old lighting that's already been rendered."

But glad it worked, I've been caught out with that a number of times.
