I think that it looks excellent so far, but maybe make the hat stick out a bit more, and give the poor guy some legs, it would be a shame if he had to infect while in a wheelchair.

That's not fair!!!

That is actually an awesome idea! You should make this zombie in a wheelchair, that would be so cool.

when i make my characters i save the seperate body parts so i can use them again later eg heads, hands, torsos, legs & feet this saves me time remodeling some body parts.the hands are a set i made some time ago so i merged them into this new model & just edited them to fit my new mesh.
i am crap at hands so it takes me an age to build them.

if you look carefully at my screenies you can see that this model is madeup of seperate parts (all of them have now been added to my libary )when im happy with the basic model i will uv map each part then weld all the parts together & i then have one solid mesh uv mapped & ready to texture.

I really like it so far! Actually, pretty healthy-looking for a zombie right now, though I imagine that will change as he gets further along.

If you take the Zombie Crawler from Bond1, make him immobile and stick him on a wheelchair model, wouldn't that work? I'll try it out and post results.

awwwwww... you have no creativity!

EDIT: Alright, the chair's a little small, and the zombie tries to walk, but it looks alright. See the attached please.

A wheelchair zombie would certainly count for originality and add to your overall entry score.

Add more gore to the texture...Bones showing, flesh missing, ect.
Other than that, nice!

If it hasn't exploded yet, I haven't touched it.

The model does look nice (better than anything I could have done), but honestly, to make it look more menacing, you could make the eyes yellow, and the skin darker with several large blood stains.
Take this image for example (a picture from Call of Duty 5: World at War Nazi Zombies minigame):
Just saying is all, not saying that your model isn't good enough, in fact, its great! EDIT: Yep, the only thing I find that gives your model a less menacing look are the eyes. The eyes look a bit too calm in my opinion...

Actually (and I've only heard my friends, who are also girls, say this, so maybe my clique are just a very small minority), I find calmness more frightening than chaos. If something can be absolutely calm while killing me, there is something SERIOUSLY messed up with that thing! But, yeah, most zombies are usually presented with that kind of menacing look to them.

But, just an idea: zombies don't need two eyes, do they? Eye-socketness, FTW!!1!!

Very nice!

I think you could advance the model even more though! His skin looks like he got a really bad sunburn (just not the tan...) and now his skin is peeling (that happend to me once, looked pretty close to the same lol...).

I think you should go with a normal mid-dark-skin look, with chucks/layers of skin removed (red flesh visible). Missing/mangled fingers would also be a nice touch. Oh and maybe you should shred of his right leg just below the knee. When you rig him, his mouse HAS to hang open!

Oh and partial-facial illumination and overall spooky lighting is key! Excellent job Henry!!

In other words the skin is a bit too bright, like concrete. I still stand by what I said, making his skin either darker (which actually is just changing the mood of the setting your model is in, say night time) and and adding several cuts and blood stains everywhere. Oh yeah, I just remembered why I thought darker skin is better: a dark grey type of skin with blood stains everwhere shows that his skin is rotting, that and some straps of hair on his head would kind of be creepy .(And yea, it looks better with yellow eyes ) EDIT: ok, here's what inspires me to say so:
the image is from COD5's Nazi Zombies map "Shi no numa" in which these dogs are called "hell hounds". See how in plain light they have dark-ish skin, blood stains everywhere, and scraps of hair, along with those yellow eyes (and they're on fire). I guess that's where I get this idea from. Not only that, but the mood of the setting. All the Nazi zombie maps so far have been menacing by being foggy, or at night, (or a combo) as well as a lot of disturbing and ominous peices of props and scenery everywhere .

now that i look at it, i think: some blood would look good
although its more realistic this way - its a old rotten zombie - how could blood possible be floating in his body? but - he could have killed someone resently =P

model and texture is still great - just some crits love ur work henry!

The only thing I could think of is making the clothes a little torn or worn more in places. It's darker, which makes it dirtier-looking than the before shot, but still in relatively good condition. Also, evidence of how he became a zombie (bite, scar, etc.) would be cool too. But, maybe he's one of those prototypes that got injected and just tore out of the labs, right?

Otherwise, I think he's very good!

Adding blood would be a bad idea, due to the fact that the model and it's uv-map are mirrored (*shudder*) so any blood would appear exactly the same on the other side.

Good point Aaagreen, but that depends. Maybe HH just made half, then copy pasted a flipped version on the other side. On the other hand he might have made half of the texture and the UV map overlays its other half... Depends how Henry Ham overall UV Mapped his model.

Ugh, been busy drowning in work . Anyways, now that I compare the two models, there is a clear standout of rotting skin, and I agree that blood stains might have ruined this nice effect. I guess all of our opinions were based on the mood that you put your model in . I mean, ussually when I see a zombie it's ussually at night time in a foggy and swampy graveyard or ominous scene, but when you showed us you final model, it was standing on a bright grey plane displaying a bright light shining at it. Awesome, and it only took four days to make the zombie character . Very nice job.

I totally disagree with the eyes, the glowing ones you've got now look cheap, much prefered it with the hollow calm ones. You could've made him equally menacing with animation.

I agree with the crit on the skin, I don't neccessarily think that the texure you've got is bad, it just lacks detail, like abs, bellybutton and nipples! Maybe shoulderblades at the back, clavicle and collarbones. I think if you just hint at these with the shading/normal map, your texture will look much more convincing.

With regards to the model itself, and the way that you've improved in the way that you model characters, this one is by far the most anatomically convincing of any of the characters you've created so far. Very nice.

May I make one enquiry though? I looks from the stretching on the tops of the arms and the sides of the face like you are planar mapping the UVs along the Z axis. Why not pelt map the face and sleeves so that you wouldn't get the horrible stretches. They aren't too noticable right now, but as soon as you add norm/spec it's going to be glaringly obvious!

Great work though

I want robotic legs.

I think the hollow ones make it look like a mummie... Why don't you release both textures?

Oh, and on another note, I finally got my wheelchair zombie working!
