Hi all. I have a question for the experience modellers that use 3ds max.

http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/3d-3ds-road-track/260681

In the above link is a very well made race track. I want to know how he got the road to, merge or flow or whatever with the terrain so well?

I've always lofted my track onto a spline (or line) and that works great, but I don't see how you get it to merge so well.. Anyone have any idea's?

Thanks!

I don't think that's a terrain in the sense that we're mostly used to. I think that they made the road mesh, then filled it out to a solid square, then divided the edges of the terrain and edited that, going further out each time but leaving areas mostly flat where needed. Probably uses less polygons than a terrain, which is a plus, but it would mean quite a tricky modelling job.
