Hey folks, just a plug here. Anybody interested in performance arts, writing or just storytelling, I have set up a blog for my storytelling exploits, which has stories of experience, pointers, tips, lessons I gain on my journey, photos and videos of my performances and my storytelling group's performances, workshops and various other videos. I've called it Little Norse Prince and I take on a persona for this one.

There's a video blog with it too, so those too lazy to read, will be able to watch. What I really want/need is people to rate me and for those interested to subscribe/bookmark.

Also, any comments and critique are ALWAYS welcome.

I'm kind of pleased with it, but don't be afraid to tear it apart if you think it needs a lot of work.

There's a link to my YouTube video blog on there, but here's just a quick link anyway:

Cheers dudes.

Interesting project chap. Two bits of feedback. The exposure on your camera is too high, so you are getting a lot of white in the picture. Secondly, your delivery was lacking a little passion. You're a bit too chilled out. It felt a bit too much like a teacher talking to me, and less like someone who was excited by the subject matter.

Just my 2 cents. It might just be your personality. In which case you're screwed.

Cheers pal, points noted. I'll try to put some more oopf in, it just doesn't feel right sitting down in my bedroom alone talking to a camera - it's kind of creepy.

Heh, I thought this was gonna be related to The Little Prince... Bwahaha Machiavellian justice.

On another note, you are so much like my drama teacher.

Nah, Little Norse Prince is just a nickname my storytelling group gave me, so it stuck. It's my choir boy locks and Viking goodness.

Though, I am unsure as to whether or not to take the drama teacher comment as a compliment...is your drama teacher cool?

I stopped watching halfway through because well I was bored by you talking about stuff you might upload and didn't actually get to the story bit, sorry
The way you started chatting about norse stuff was a bit odd "ooh I've just come back from Asgard for me holidays, we had a lovely time!"
I agree you sounded a bit like you were reading from a text book about Tourism in Mythical Lands, sounded a bit bland to me, but I'll check out the rest to see if it develops. Bit unfair of me to comment when I haven't watched the whole thing

I like stories, bring more stories to me!

[edit]
It's still a bit bland, I say this as encouragement not to put you down. It seemed like you were making it up on the spot which didn't help the flow of it. If you wrote that out and used more descriptive words it would be more engrossing.
Delivery is a hard thing to master, I'm no story teller, sometimes I'm embarrased to read out loud in front of people, other times I can be very enthusiastic and funny. Does this happen to you?

Fair criticism mate, don't you worry about criticism putting me down, it doesn't. It's an honest reaction and that's what I've been looking for.

And like I said earlier in the thread, it doesn't feel right talking to a camera on my own in the bedroom, so maybe overcoming that will help with delivery.

Also, my Squidoo-blog is beginning to go up in the ranks and fingers crossed it'll continue. Currently out of all of the blogs on the website it is ranking #18,802, and in the art section, #981 and if you type in "Storytelling" into the search bar, it'll appear second on the list, of which there's 178 results. I just hope to get some fans now.

I think the trick is learning to not care what people think. Don't try and impress either. Just think of yourself as an actor, and not as yourself. You're just a vessle for this story, and therefore all emphasis should be on the story.

When I do lyrics for my various music projects I forget about my vocal weaknesses. They just add to what makes my performance unique. While I don't like to have my housemates or girlfriend around while I'm actually recording them, it doesn't bother me too much. I just go for it. So basically what I'm saying is forget everyone else. Just get immersed in the story. Remember lots of people want it to be good, so it's your duty to give it your all.

I'm fine for storytelling, it's just making an intro video interesting and speaking to my webcam. I can perform to people...just not to a camera, if you get me - I think it's because I have no reactions to bounce back off - even when I do my radio stuff, there's somebody in the studio to bounce back off.

Though maybe I'll have a solution - I had a friend record our storytelling workshop today - we have my entrance mini-performance recorded and his story recorded (though, the ending was cut off because the person holding his camera accidentally stopped it recording) - but I can use my little intro to start something off - then I leave a few comments about the blog. I'll be stealing the vids tomorrow, so I can hopefully have a new video up tomorrow night (I was hoping tonight, but I didn't bring a USB with me to his house)

[edit]

On a plus note, my Squidoo page is moving up in the ranks - now in the top 10k at 9,959 and 511 in the arts section. Groovy. I'm pretty pleased as I think they have around a million blogs on the website. If I get into the top 100 for arts, it'll mean good publicity.
