Are you trying to use both at once?
If you are get a new router, you have to decide if it's gonna control DHCP or not. I have a router in my bedroom and one downstairs, connected with a LAN cable for the best possible connection. But the thing is, these won't work out of the box together, because they would both be trying to control DHCP. DHCP is basically what gives your connections an ID, if there are conflicts then you'll have no end of troubles.
So if you are using more than 1 router, make sure that any adjoining routers have DHCP disabled. Hubs and Switches tend not to have these concerns, it's just if you had say, a router with a wireless router attached to it. I would disable DHCP on the wireless router in that case - it's best to use DHCP on the closest router to your actual connection, then it becomes your last port of call for port forwarding, passwords etc - any other router, hub, or switch is then just acting as a hub.
The only issue I've found with netgear stuff is that the ports can be a bit lackluster, like often a connection won't work, just because, then unplug and plug in and it'll work - it's like the underlying logic on them is a bit screwy, this is only at work though, I use a 5 port netgear hub without any issues.
