Hey all,

I just got a new Nokia N97 from work, but I don't know anyone that has one, because they're not available for sale in Canada. Does anyone here have a newer Nokia and use the Ovi store for apps? If so, what apps do you recommend? I only have the default Facebook, Weather, and Email apps installed. This thing is pretty nice

*cough* iPhone clone *cough*

Nah! Just kidding! I've actually heard you can get this really cool maps app, but for the life of me I can't remember what it's called!

Well, aside from the massive app shortage, I think this phone is much better than the iPhone. The camera is better, it shoots movies, it's 32GB storage, the battery doesn't drain fast, it's got a full keyboard, and it's touch screen as well. The GUI has a *long* way to go to match that of Apple's, however.

My wife has her iPhone, and I have my iPod Touch, so I can always refer to them for the must-have apps. I just wanted some fun recommendations for the N97.

write your own? http://developer.symbian.com/main/index.jsp

I was thinking about getting the nokia 5800 but it felt rather sluggish, it's not helpful when the shop's tester phone has no contacts in it, has no internet, and basically has nothing you can do with it so you can't really "try" it.

I am legally not allowed to write mobile apps at the moment, for any cell phone company. It's not really my thing anyways, as I've made an iPhone game and got that out of my system.

Not even for personal use? that sucks. I suppose that's the problem with a lot of software development contracts isn't it?

How do you find the phone? I beleive it's similar to the 5800 in terms of spec so does it feel sluggish to you doing real world things with it? like browsing this forum?

hope you enjoy making us all jealous (a lot of my friends seem to have got their hands on htc devices, i'm still using my "standard" mobile phone that just phones and txts with a rather poor but it'll do sort of camera)
