All of a sudden, ZoneAlarm popped up with this:

Borland Type Library Exporter is trying to access
"https://secure.ultrapay.net/?id=7"

Application: tnzlclient.exe
Destination IP: 0.0.0.0

And then this pops up:

And as I post this, a message from the same icon popped up saying media corrupted or something and saying I can't play media files and listed a bunch of common media extensions.

It also said something about destroying my media player.

Now my resolution just changed to 640x480 and all the display options are missing. I can't even open task manager.

What spyware/antivirus programs do you have besides ZoneAlarm? I would recommend getting Spybot Search & Destroy at least if you can't do anything with ZoneAlarm.

I will live forever or die trying.

I have symantec installed, which the virus also popped up a message claiming the auto-protect was disabled. The obvious bit was that it said Norton, and it's not actually Norton but Symantec AV.

I've disconnected the HDD after the resolution thing and popped in another HDD with a fresh copy of XP already on it. The majority of what was on the other harddrive had already been backed up a few weeks ago to my external. My only real concern right now is how much (if any) of my data on other drives could possibly be infected.

Got my updated firewall and AV installed on the new XP drive, and the second zonealarm went active, I see incoming connections constantly. I've had like 30 blocked just while writing this. In the last 5 minutes I've had over 200 blocks. Now I know you're bound to get some random pings and attempted connections, but this many seems a bit ridiculous.

Malware Bytes anti-malware, it's free, and it's just great at dealing with those viruses that block options to adjust display properties. If I run into problems like that it's the first thing I try, and it's saved my bacon about 3 times already.

Often these viruses lock out the display properties so that they can have their way with your desktop background, among other things (fake bluescreen screensavers for instance).

0.0.0.0 is hell's IP, alright.

I recommend Avira AntiVir. It has a high rate of detection, compared to other software.

Here's what I always say to people who get a virus:

"Get Avast and stop watching porn!"

I'm working on Swordfight again! Come tell me what you think!

Let's try not to turn this into a debate about who's AV is better. I used Symantec corporate because I think it's better than the rest.
