I wondered if anybody had any recommendations for decent camcorders of a reasonable price (£100-200), because I would be interested in getting one, and maybe doing some video stuff Something with good sound quality preferrably.

I did have a nice long post asking about this initially but when I submitted it, my dsl was apparently down and I so lost the message

I don't live in the UK but a good brand is Sony and HP. I own a Sony Camcorder and a HP Camera, they both work quite good. They are in the range of $100-200 US.

If involves money I'm in. (only if it Benefits me)

A bit out of the price range you stated but I'd recommend the Panasonic HDC-SD9 for 300 quid. I've got one and the picture quality is stunning. Only problem I have with it are the annoyingly small controls and the format it records in is AVCHD which is supported by very few programs. Also, it uses SD cards so no more tapes (which is good in my opinion).

Edit: Oh, and the sound quality is pretty good considering the size of the camera.

Sound quality is one of the most often overlooked parts in any kind of film or video work.

I advise you to choose a camcorder that has a microphone jack in it, allowing you to override the microphone that comes with the camera if it isn't any good

The "Flip" is a common popular one that has decent quality for its low price tag.

Temporarly away from the Phoenix Sentry.

YES. No matter what, get a camera that allows you to plug in an external microphone. You won't be sorry, the overall quality of anything you make will be greatly improved (audio-wise)!
