Hello all!

I'm working on a city at the moment, for the Online City Project (working title), and was looking for some C+C and advice from my fellow TGC users!

I'll post screenies up, of buildings and other scenes, and if you could comment on them (e.g. where I need to improve, good points, additions) that would be hugely appreciated.

(This was in the 3DWS section, but that place is like Chernobyl nowadays - not many people around, so I would be waiting ages for the C+C)

Cheers

Second Picture - Modern Industrial Building/Factory 2

The next 3 or 4 buildings are designed to be placed directly alongside other buildings, which explains the lack of decoration on the sides.

Third Picture - Back of the previous picture(again!)

Not entirely happy with this side of the building, to be honest. It seems either bland or poor textures, Im not too sure.

Third building

Seems a bit bland, and I do realise that the big door textures are the same in all of them - I intend to change this as soon as I find an appropriate replacement!

larger screenies would help its hard to comment on shots that are small & dont show much detail.that said they look good sofar maybe a bit of dirt here & there may help.

cheers henry

The fourth building.

Still need to finish the roof items, as I don't have the correct texture yet.

The 4th building looks much more detailed, but the brick texture is too repetative and it is too clean, roughen it up a bit. One little crit: in the 4th one, the roll door shouldn't be that high up, how will you get anything up the stairs?

@Prasoc - I agree with the repetiveness and I think that it looks really sterile.... However, using 3DWS means that it is hard to add things like decals.
I shall investigate....
*puts on big anorak and dark sunglasses, pops up the collar, and walks off*

DO you think that having a ramp on the fourth building, instead of steps would look better?

Ok, I've done another building
Decided to use a new texture, to make it look a bit dirt, a bit used etc.

C+C please!

It's getting better. When the lighting is added, it will really make the level look better. Back to the forth building lol, the ramp is an improvement, but make that whole part come down a bit because according to the door, it is 1 storey high

Improvement?

Ive lowered the delivery platform and made it look dirtier and less sterile - or is it too much? Not too sure

For what it is worth there is nothing wrong with the 4th building as it was originally. Both designs look great though. In the first design the door is that high so a truck can back up to the platform in front of the door and be an even height with it. The stairs are just for people to use not to carry things up. How else will the truck driver get to the back of the truck to open it

Some interesting points there SP. So would you advise keeping the 4th building as it was originally, with the brick texture? or with the newgrunge-type texture?
I had to change the height of the delivery platform, because it looked a little out of proportion. It now fits my truck model that I've been using as a kind of ruler!

Shall keep you all updated.

Please continue to criticise and advise!!

Stuff looks good, although I would work on the textures.
Seams like they'd be perfect for an RTS though.
