Hi ALL

trying to find out what the extension names are for these type of files.

normal maps
bump map
Displacement mapping

plus how do you baked your object?

Well, it depends, you can save normal maps as jpg, or as png etc. it depends on what you want. Same with bump map, don't know what displacement map is.

well that answer the main question now all I have to do is find out if they can all be use in AC3D.

Oh, I don't know anything about AC3D, but it would be a lame moddeller ( srry if I insult ) if it wouldn't support png and jpg. So just try those 2.

Textures can be any format as long as the modelling app supports it.The most popular for texture with all normalmaps ect. is .dds

Yes, like djmaster said, the most common texture files are Direct Draw Surfaces, better known as DDS's. I am an AC3D user myself and all of these can be done, yet I'm not sure what a Displacement map is...

I've seen it all. Except for myself ever not failing at something.

a displacement map is usually used along side a bump map. it makes it more accurate because the bump map then adds the detail to the displacement map.

it bumps it out for like a statue then the bump refines it down.

Found out that another use for a displacement map is for when you would like the words you'ed typed to be put over the say flag or wall or as tattoo on some picture.
